Cinders411 Posted June 21, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2019 After a long and arduous planning phase, we pulled the trigger on the Allure, rather than the S2S RCI/NCL cruises we were thinking about in Jan. We sail Oct 20, 2019. Looking for hotel recommendations pre, as well as post cruise. Don't want to spend a huge amount but, no dumps either LOL! Just a nice, mid range, hotel close to hotel/port. Or if possible, not too far from those but, on the beach? I think we may have stayed at Dana Point area last time but, the hotel name is not coming back to me. We are flying and will not have a vehicle. Is there anything interesting to do in Fort Lauderdale besides the beach? Thank you to anyone who can assist. Probably because Dana Point is in California 🙂 You must be thinking of Dania Beach. If you want something on the beach, low cost, check out some of the boutique hotels on Hollywood Beach. Just check the TripAdvisor reviews and see if you can find something you like. Since you won't have a car, this is an outstanding area to hang out. Lots of food options, bars, people watching, live music, beach, intracoastal, etc. All walkable and affordable, plenty to do besides sit on the beach. The water taxi also picks up at 5 O'Clock across from Margaritaville. Another option is Las Olas, a hotel like Riverside is pretty popular and affordable. Not a ton to do but you can also catch the water taxi here and walk the riverfront. Besides that, you are just looking at typical chain options scattered around but not necessarily great locations. Embassy Suites on 17th street would be another one to look at but not as walkable as Hollywood or Las Olas/Downtown. SeaTheWaves Posted June 24, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2019 Hyatt Place 17th St Convention Center 1851 SE Tenth Ave (not near beach) Hotel is walking distance to restaurants and grocery store. Hyatt Place has a hotel shuttle, which will pick you up from the airport. After you get your luggage, call the hotel and they will send a shuttle bus to pick you up for a small fee per room.. Shuttle will take you to the cruise pier (small fee). You can get a great price, if you book through Value Trip.
spammie Posted June 24, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2019 We really like the Galleria Doubletree. It is right on the waterway, close to the beach and there is a Publix across the street and the Galleria Mall next door where there are lots of dining options. phabric Posted June 25, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 25, 2019 Try Best Western Oceanside, FLL, 100 yards from beach, hot breakfast, no shuttle from/to/airport/port, bar that sells food, water taxi a block away, Sun Trolley and regular bus outside the hotel, washer/dryer $, rental bikes $. Taxi from airport around $25, port under $20 cheaper with Uber.
