We've sailed the Regal once and the Royal twice.  Really like both ships but as some have mentioned before the generalized small balconies are a sore spot for us.  Knowing this ahead of time we have made sure to get staterooms with larger balconies.  On the Regal we had an aft balcony D730---loved it!

Totally agree about the small balconies!  We had D731 (identical to D730) on the Regal and also loved it.  The balcony is half covered/half open and larger than the side balconies.  We have D731 booked again for our upcoming January Regal cruise as well.

You mat very well be correct.

I've only sat there long enough to open a casino account & occasionally walk past & on those times it seemed just as bad as all the other ships.

All I know is that on some older ships, I have come back to room and stuffed clothing in a bag and showered before going to bed and that wasn't necessary on Regal this month.

That's a novel way to judge the thickness of the smoke !:classic_laugh:

Thank all for your input- much appreciated!

We just changed our deluxe cabin rooms (4)  from emerald deck to Marina deck- deck 15.   I always preferred the middle floors because there is less movement.  Others in our group enjoy being on the upper decks.

Has anyone had issues on  this deck or other upper decks  with a lot more motion?

As always, I appreciate your time and information.

The issues with the Marina deck are more related to what's above you on the Lido deck. You don't say where on Marina your new cabins are. Up front you'll have cabins overhead, which is good. At mid-ship you'd have the pool area and chairs and tables that are moved about and can cause a ruckus on the deck below. More aft, it's the buffet, where carpeted floors will dull the noises.

As to decks and motion, I don't find there's nearly as much difference between decks as there is in getting a cabin way toward the bow. The aft has motion too.

A few comments regarding dining.

The buffet is very large with lots of selections. It's open from 5am until 11pm, never closes. Walk through the entire buffet before you select.

Alfredo's is no charge  and waiter served. It's open from 11am until mid evening every day. Menu is individual pizza plus other related items.

The International Cafe is open 24/7 (just about).

Crown Grill and Sabatini's are nice alternate restaurants. $29/pp charge for the Crown Grill and $25/pp for Sabatini's.

There is a Crab Shack some evenings in the buffet area, $29/pp

On some sea days there is a Pub Lunch in the Wheelhouse Bar/'Crown Grill. No charge.

Thanks for this synopsis.  It answers a few questions that I had.

Is June 01 - 12 recent enough?  We had the usual great service on board from friendly and accommodating Princess staff.  We had a fantastic waitress and room steward was really good too.  Food was fine (given we are all aware of cutbacks here and there).  I do not understand any overall negative reviews on Regal.  Sure, we can all nit-pick here and there, but please have a great time.  Regal is blessed with a good ED and CD as well.  Our main complaint was excessive noise levels of some of the entertainment scheduled in the Piazza.

Hey there,  I have been looking for people that have sailed on the Regal recently. I wanted to get info on what Scotches the bars have on board. Any chance you have photos, or remember what they were offering? Some of the ships have the new expanded whisky menu, I was just trying to see what was on the Regal. I am crossing my fingers they offer Highland park. :)

We were on for the TA to Copenhagen in April and continued on the Baltics so we were on for 26 days--great cruise!!  Our CC group kept us busy with activities such as cabin crawl, slot pull, meet/greet, etc.  It was an amazing/fun group.  When we weren't at a planned activity, we enjoyed the Piazza area.   Cruise director and his team were very creative.  We had a mini-suite on Caribe with an outstanding room steward.  One of the nicest things that the room steward did was to suggest changing our sheets after I spent one day in bed not feeling well.  Such a small gesture as clean sheets made me feel better!

We did eat in the MDR during the TA portion of the cruise and decided to use the buffet/Alfredo's/IC for the later portion.   We just decided to be more casual for those last 11 days since the Baltics were port intensive.   We were amazed that guests don't use Alfredo's as often!!!

I've been on Regal 5 times a year for the past 4 yrs. Going back on her in November. She is sFABULOUS ship. Nothing but praise from me. Has an amazing crew onboard, amazing customer service, and the food was outstanding. It's the BEST ship in the fleet in my opinion.
