Wine on Board

 Share

Recommended Posts

Taking our first Regent cruise in May of 2020!  Very Excited.  Husband is concerned about the 'fine wine' on board.  We will be travelling from Lisbon to London via Bordeaux, Spain and Ireland..the is a 'wine' cruise, but seemingly only on the stops you make.

For someone who enjoys good quality California Cabs and other reds, is the wine that is included sufficient/personal I know....or will he need to bring his own/upgrade at what cost?

Can someone supply information on the current wines being poured.....

Many thanks in advance

If you really like California wines, bring you own or pay the price.  We don't drink now, but when we did we always shipped a few cases to our hotel we'd be staying at before the cruise.  Never a problem getting it from the hotel to our suite.

Back in March there is a post that includes the included wine list on Explorer at the time. I saved a copy but I can’t seem to get it into this post. I think it was in a live blog of the cruise, maybe the Miami to Lisbon cruise.

Also note that this year's list will likely be obsolete by next year.

I realize that; just looking for concepts.  CAn't find anything

We have had both Regent and Silversea order cases of our favorite wine for us, and they have it ready when we board.  It is kept by the sommelier and bottles delivered to us anywhere around the ship whenever we ask for it.  We use some of our OBC to pay for it.  Works out very well for us at least, and no worries about shipping it ourselves.

Do not get the need for this, plenty of included wines and an up market end to buy. You do not need to have the daily selection, the choice is plentiful. You will get beyond just Californian as well. Often also odd bottles left , not enough to put on list or daily selection. Talk with the head sommelier re: your requirements. Ask in advance for say NZ sauvignon blanc, they will with notice get it in.

We don't care to experiment though, and prefer knowing our favorite is available whenever we want it in case we just aren't into whatever is offered.  No snobbery here - just insured satisfaction.   We did ask well in advance with both cruise lines but they said it could not be provided on a complimentary basis.  The fact they would accept OBC helped too.
