Marriage on Indy

Recommended Posts

Good Morning everyone!

My GF and I were thinking about getting married on Independence in April and just wondered if anyone has been married on RCCL before and/or have any information regarding marriages onboard a ship?

We are both very excited about doing this and was wondering about it.  It wouldn't be anything too much probably only like 16 of us going on a 4 or 5 night cruise.

We are not planning to do anything big.  No reception and no food and drinks. We get the food free with the cruise why pay for any other food!!!

Just the cheapest package ($1,950) one.

All I can suggest is to insist on getting the email address of the group coordinator onboard.  All the planning is done by a 3rd party contractor.  Ours was called Royal Romance, but I believe they have changed contractors, so it might have some other name that is still meant to imply that they are Royal Caribbean.

Our problem was that we had much difficulty communicating with our contractor.  Emails that would take a week or two to be answered, phone calls never returned.  When we finally got all the plans straight, less than a week before the wedding, the contractor did not pass on all the info to the ship's people, so the ship's people were in the dark about certain things.

If you can communicate with the people on board, you have  better chance of everything going smoothly.

Be mindful that they got rid of the wedding chapel on the ship to make way for the Escape room.

Friends attended a wedding recently onboard and it was held in the Olive or Twist/ Viking crown lounge on the dance floor/stage area. The ceremony was interrupted by shout outs for bingo etc over the PA even though they had asked for no public PA announcements in the venue during the ceremony unless it was an emergency. ☹️

Wow, how unfortunate.
