moeferg Posted July 5, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2019 I read the pier parking is first come , first served. Can I reserve a spot, or should there be no problems?
mets123 Posted July 5, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2019 They do not take reservations. That being said, I was always able to get a spot.
mjkacmom Posted July 5, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2019 I’ve never heard of there being no spots available. We cruised during fleet week, pier 88 was in use for that so we parked next door at pier 90.

njhorseman Posted July 8, 2019 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2019 (edited) It doesn't happen often, but there actually have been times when the parking lots fill. This typically happens in mid summer when several ships are in port on the same day. I was embarking several years ago on a day like that and a late arriving passenger on our cruise actually had to park off site . There is apparently an off site lot on West 59th St. that the cruise terminal uses in such cases. You're not at much risk unless you arrive at the cruise terminal fairly late...probably after 1. Here's the port schedule for the remainder of 2019. You can check to see how many ships are departing the same day as yours. https://www.nycruise.com/schedule/ . Typically it shouldn't get dicey unless more than two ships are embarking that day although there can be times when you may have to park on the roof of a pier other than the one your ship is using. moeferg Posted July 8, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted July 8, 2019 Cool. looks like we are the only ship there that day. I am planning on being there between 11-12. I am assuming there will be no issues.

We don't sail/cruise during the summer months and that explained that we've only seen Pier 88 full and Pier 90 somewhat full, and for the last 2 or 3 years - that Pier 92's rooftop parking lot is always empty, except for a few vehicles. Come to think of it, late summer & early Fall, MCT tend to get crazy busy with 3 or even 4 ships, usually one of them like the Aida or Oceania, etc. (smaller ships) possibly making an overnight port stop & berthed at Pier 90 ... seen them tied up at Pier 92 as well (and, that terminal looked almost like the post Sandy months, in need of upgrades & ongoing maintenance.)
