I have been there many times and never made a reservation.
ABQrobin Posted July 15, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2019 Just tell your taxi driver to take you to Tropicante. He/She will stop right at the street, you get out of taxi and someone from there will walk you to the beach club, explain how it works, and let you pick out your chairs. It is really easy, no reservations needed.
Rare crewsweeper Posted July 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2019 However, more and more ships are coming into CM as a port of call. The pier is being extended to handle up to 6 ships including mega ships, versus max of 3 ships now. So if your stop in CM has more than 2 ships, and other ships are getting in before yours, or you are planning on waiting to go ashore, best to contact Steve Uhl and get a lounger reserved. We know the way and just say we have a reservation and know the way, but first timers need to be careful where they are taken.
doublej Posted July 28, 2019 #6 Share Posted July 28, 2019 (edited) You can check out Tropicante at www.sandalsandskis.com . Email Steve and he will reserve you a table or lounger in the shade or sun at no charge, but tables are available on walk up basis, too. Make a small purchase while there. See more on his fb page, Trip Advisor, and youtube. They'll be waiting on you to arrive and will get you a taxi to return to the port. Great way to spend a few relaxing hours and not blow the budget. cttt Posted July 29, 2019 #7 Share Posted July 29, 2019 Beware, beware! El Faro restaurant scams and over charges customers. Thought we were going to the fabulous Tropicante restaurant and it was closed. The waiters said the beach service was still available in the kitchen. Not true! It was actually the El Faro restaurant. The food was disgusting and attracted hundreds of flies.. They overcharged us for drinks and tax. Any other country, this scam would be prosecuted. Charged 26% tax
gatour Posted August 9, 2019 #8 Share Posted August 9, 2019 crewsweeper and doublej, Thanks for suggesting Tropicante. I have reached out to Steve about reserving loungers in the shade. Based on cttt posts, how can I make sure I find Tropicante vs El Faro once we arrive at the taxi drop off point?

Go directly into Tropicana's lounge and ask for seating wherever you want and they will be happy to have you.
#1TravelMom Posted August 17, 2019 #10 Share Posted August 17, 2019 We've been to Tropicante many times. It's a great location on the Malecon. They have very good food and the restaurant and restrooms are super clean. You can also get a very inexpensive massage. Overall, great place to relax for the day!
