Worldsurfer Posted July 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2019 I expect that leaving early will require speaking with Guest Relations. How early can we disembark? Can we remove our own luggage, or is it mandatory to have the crew take care of it? We are thinking that by leaving with our own luggage, there might be some time saved. With plans to stay in Ortesei that night (and perhaps take a lift up before five), we are hoping to get on the road early.
Grandma Cruising Posted July 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2019 (edited) It depends what time the ship arrives in Venice. You will need to talk to Guest Relations about it - probably a good idea to do this early in the cruise No problem to take your luggage off yourselves, just don’t put it out the night before. May be a good idea to check with Azamara beforehand Edited July 24, 2019 by Host Grandma Cruising
excitedofharpenden Posted July 24, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2019 3rd August on Pursuit? You overnight in Venice at the end so really you’ll be able to get off as early as you like. If you can manage your own luggage then walk it off. Have a word with Guest Relations to let them know you’ll be off early. It shouldn’t be an issue. manc Posted July 24, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2019 We got off in the evening when docked overnight. Informed guest relations and staff took our luggage onto the quayside for us. We could leave at anytime once we had docked as long as guest relations were aware.
Globehoppers Posted July 28, 2019 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2019 (edited) The challenge in Venice is clearing Italian customs and immigration. Our last time there on Quest we were moored at San Basilio (now the "standard" location for R-size ships) requiring the long walk to the customs house. Italian customs required that all luggage be pre-positioned in the customs house for identification on debarkation. Not really an issue, however, it does impact those who are looking for a "quick start" leaving the ship.
