Our two-deck high (Decks 4, 5), state-of-the-art show lounge, has unobstructed sight-lines, as well as comfortable banquettes and chairs making every seat, the best seat in the house. A dueling battle between genres, classics from the greatest singers of all time, a story of romance and a thriller filled with intrigue, as well as a heart-filled tribute to the days of disco are just a taste of the lavishly staged musical productions, created and produced by our team of Broadway choreographers and directors.

Well, that's great, as long as the usual hype does not "obscure" reality.  We will discover, up-close, this coming March when viewing the new shows.  There must have been some significant engineering reconfiguration done to make this happen, given Explorer's current layout, and the same basic footprint for both ships.

Thank goodness that they have listened as the Explorer theatre is a joke. The whole upper tier does not work as you cannot see the stage.

Regent did not have to "listen" to passengers.  They were well aware that the theater on Explorer was not what was suppose to be there!!!   We were on the christening cruise of Explorer and people (passengers and Regent) at the tables set up behind the large posts).

O.K.  Let's all chill a bit, and not throw the baby out with the bathwater. 

 

Having been on Explorer, attest there are balcony areas offering a clear view of the stage, whether for Guest Lecturers or shows.  One just has to get there on the early side--early on in that particular cruse--to assess the situation.   Sit real-close to the railing. 

 

No argument as to the basic issue.  This reconnaissance should not be necessary.  Only a little over seven months before our initial opportunity for personal observation as to every venue aboard Splendor.  This will certainly include verifying the accuracy of Regent's pronouncement as to clear Theater lines of sight.    

 

And, only a bit-more than a month before we have the wonderful opportunity for a third of boarding Explorer--and reacquainting ourselves with the significant deficiencies as to existing Theater site lines.  Just-hope, in the interim since our last visit, Regent has done something to improve the lighting between step levels, particularly in the main theater area.

GOARMY, when we were in the Constellation Theater on Explorer in March, nothing had been done between step levels.  This amazes me since they could do a quick fix with some reflective tape (that will last until the refurbishment in October).

 

In any case, Explorer is our favorite ship and we do not expect Splendor to exceed our love for Explorer.  She will have a better theater, an outside area for the Coffee Connection (which we could care less about) and a lighter palette (we are fine with the darker palette on Explorer).  The only reason that we are on Splendor in March is because our booked Explorer cruiser morphed into a Splendor cruise.

Maybe "wait and see" Jackie ??  I have the sneaky feeling that the Splendour will blow us away!!  All I hope is that the "lighter palette" of interior design doesn't mean upholstery will get dirtier faster!!
