SummmerInKefalonia Posted August 1, 2019 Author #2 Share Posted August 1, 2019 Another disappointing year from Cunard. Again not many Mediterranean itineraries (only 3 to central Med). It's been 4 years since they've made some proper itineraries about the area. In a period where other companies have a strong presence in the Med area, Cunard is absent. Only the new Queen Anne will fix the issue I think in 2022. I have also Queen Mary's and Queen Elizabeth's (same gap as last year, not yet June, July & August) itineraries. I may post them later if I have time.
bluemarble Posted August 1, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2019 Here's what I'm seeing for the 2021 Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth itineraries that have not been previously announced. As in previous years, I've removed sea days and cruise-by calls for the sake of brevity. Queen Mary 2 Apr 26-May 05: New York, Southampton, Hamburg May 5-May 14: Hamburg, Southampton, New York May 14-May 21: New York, Southampton May 21-May 28: Southampton, New York May 28-Jun 04: New York, Southampton Jun 04-Jun 09: Southampton, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, St Peter Port, Southampton Jun 09-Jun 16: Southampton, New York Jun 16-Jun 23: New York, Southampton Jun 23-Jun 30: Southampton, New York Jun 30-Jul 06: New York, Halifax, Boston, New York Jul 06-Jul 15: New York, Southampton, Hamburg Jul 15-Jul 22: Hamburg, Stavanger, Olden, Andalsnes, Flaam, Hamburg Jul 22-Aug 01: Hamburg, Southampton, New York Aug 01-Aug 08: New York, Southampton Aug 08-Aug 15: Southampton, Stavanger, Flaam, Olden, Bergen, Southampton Aug 15-Aug 22: Southampton, New York Aug 22-Aug 29: New York, Southampton Aug 29-Sep 05: Southampton, Stavanger, Olden, Andalsnes, Bergen, Southampton Sep 05-Sep 12: Southampton, New York Sep 12-Sep 19: New York, Southampton Sep 19-Sep 24: Southampton, Rotterdam. Zeebrugge, Cherbourg, Southampton Sep 24-Oct 01: Southampton, New York Oct 01-Oct 08: New York, Boston, Sydney, Quebec Oct 08-Oct 15: Quebec, Saguenay, Sept-Iles, Halifax, New York Oct 15-Oct 22: New York, Southampton Oct 22-Oct 29: Southampton, New York Oct 29-Nov 07: New York, Southampton, Hamburg Nov 07-Nov 12: Hamburg, Stavanger, Oslo, Hamburg Nov 12-Nov 21: Hamburg, Southampton, New York Nov 21-Dec 03: New York, St Thomas, Basseterre St Kitts, Bridgetown Barbados, Castries St Lucia, Philipsburg St Maarten, New York Dec 03-Dec 10: New York, Southampton Dec 10-Dec 15: Southampton, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Southampton Dec 15-Dec 22: Southampton, New York Dec 22-Jan 03: New York, Road Town Tortola, Basseterre St Kitts, Bridgetown Barbados, Roseau Dominica, Philipsburg St Maarten, New York Queen Elizabeth May 18-May 25: Tokyo, Kagoshima, Fukuoka, Seogwipo, Nagasaki, Tokyo May 25-Jun 03: Tokyo, Aomori, Akita, Kanazawa, Busan, Nagasaki, Tokyo Sep 22-Oct 01: Tokyo, Hiroshima, Busan, Nagasaki, Kochi, Shimizu, Tokyo Oct 01-Oct 10: Tokyo, Kushiro, Korsakov, Otaru, Hakodate, Aomori, Tokyo Oct 10-Oct 19: Tokyo, Akita, Kanazawa, Maizuru, Busan, Nagasaki, Tokyo Oct 19-Oct 29: Tokyo, Kagoshima, Nagasaki, Shanghai, Hong Kong Oct 29-Nov 06: Hong Kong, Halong Bay, Chan May, Singapore Nov 06-Nov 21: Singapore, Jakarta, Bali, Darwin, Airlie Beach, Brisbane, Sydney Nov 21-Dec 01: Sydney, Melbourne, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, Bay Of Islands, Auckland QM2's Christmas cruise is included in this year's pre-release itineraries. I think we've had to wait longer for that voyage to be announced in previous years. It looks like QM2's Independence Day cruise will be 6 nights in 2021 (instead of 7) with only Halifax and Boston as port calls. I wonder if the 5-night QM2 voyage from Hamburg on Nov 07-Nov 12 will end up being another chartered "Stars at Sea" voyage in 2021 as in previous years. As SummmerInKefalonia indicated, once again there are gaps in QE's schedule from early June through most of September 2021. I suppose there's another Alaska season in the works for QE. I suspect that 16-night QV voyage on May 01-May 17 from Hamburg to Southampton with no port calls indicates a refit during that time. QV is due for a refit in 2021. 2
Aspidestra99 Posted August 1, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 1, 2019 Thankyou both for the information. I'm really disappointed at Cunard's lacklustre presence in the Mediterranean.
bluemarble Posted August 1, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2019 As I've done in previous years when the new itineraries were revealed, here is an updated list of the number of QM2 transatlantic crossings per year compiled in response to a question about whether the number of crossings had been decreasing in recent years. QM2 Crossings Per Year 2004 = 15 2005 = 26 2006 = 20 2007 = 23 2008 = 24 2009 = 23 2010 = 21 2011 = 21 2012 = 20 2013 = 18 2014 = 18 2015 = 22 2016 = 21 2017 = 24 2018 = 24 2019 = 24 2020 = 22 2021 = 24

This is another case (as in previous years) where a cruise booking website has posted the Cunard Summer/Autumn itineraries in August prior to Cunard's official announcement date. Here are the dates I have from the past few years when Cunard has actually announced and posted their Summer/Autumn schedules along with the dates the voyages have been available to book. I haven't heard the dates for this year yet, but they are likely to be sometime similar in early to mid September. Previous Cunard Summer/Autumn schedule announcement dates 2020 schedule announced September 13, on sale September 24, 2018 2019 schedule announced September 5, on sale September 14, 2017 2018 schedule announced September 6, on sale September 20, 2016

MCC retired Posted August 1, 2019 #11 Share Posted August 1, 2019 (edited) same Just one 7 night NYC to Quebec followed by just one 7 night back to NYC in Oct. QM2 usually does 2 each of these , one r/t in Sept and one in Oct. These same 2019 NYC/Quebec itineraries are now heavily discounted so that may be why the changes? One NY-Québec round-trip was the usual until this year and next. I also noticed the heavy discounts for these cruises this year, but there weren't a lot of staterooms available. In one case the first page for one of the voyages showed a surprisingly low rate for Princess Grill but when going to the next page they were actually sold out. There are four calls by the QM2 in Halifax this year and there will be four next year, but only two in 2021.

bluemarble Posted August 7, 2019 #15 Share Posted August 7, 2019 Several US websites are now showing some tidbits about the gaps in QE's 2021 summer schedule, confirming another Alaska season is in the works. No details yet on the port calls for these Alaska cruises, as has been the case in previous years. Jun 03-Jun 22: Yokyo, Vancouver Jun 22-Jul 02: Vancouver, Vancouver Jul 02-Jul 12: Vancouver, Vancouver Jul 12-Jul 22: Vancouver, Vancouver Jul 22-Aug 03: Vancouver, Vancouver Aug 03-Aug 13: Vancouver, Vancouver Aug 13-Aug 23: Vancouver, Vancouver Aug 23-Sep 02: Vancouver, Vancouver Sep 02-Sep 22: Vancouver, Tokyo I'm also seeing an additional port call for QE's Nov 21 Australia/New Zealand sailing that I didn't list above. Perhaps just an oversight on my part in my original post. Nov 21-Dec 2: Sydney, Melbourne, Fiordland National Park, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, Bay of Islands, Auckland

I believe the Fiordland National Park will be a 'sail-by' although a spectacular one at that. I was on a similar cruise this year - Queen Elizabeth entered three separate fjords so we could enjoy the views (just as ships do in Norway) but did not drop anchor or dock at any port. Rare carlmm Posted August 11, 2019 #17 Share Posted August 11, 2019 (edited) Well, probably Carnival believes they know what there customers want. As a CWC Diamond Member and Cunard cruiser for about two decades, I am out. Neither to the cold weather cruises appeal to me nor do I want, as European, to travel around the world to find a Cunard ship (and maybe to go to even the cold of Alaska) while all the warmth and the beauty of the Mediterranean are right at the doorstep. And whats all this about Japan and Australia and what ever? Cunard has abandoned its traditional customers. (And no, a monstrous Queen "Konigsdam, big and ugly" will not fix this.) siforest65 Posted September 8, 2019 #18 Share Posted September 8, 2019 My parents now have the new brochure and the itineraries above are spot on. That's what I've started seeing too on the Cunard UK website. If you actually try to start a booking, it gives you the error message "Unknown error. Please try again later." rather than a more meaningful error such as "This itinerary is not yet open for booking.", but that's about par for the course with the new website, I suppose. At least you can see the itineraries and prices in the UK. Not seeing anything showing up yet for the new 2021 itineraries and prices on the US website, but it's still oh dark thirty on the morning of the 17th over here. Edit: I see what you mean about the edit you added to your post. I'm not seeing "all" the new 2021 itineraries quite yet either on the Cunard UK site.
