We are going on the Sunrise in September and I just noticed they do not have a pizza pirate!!! But they do have the pizzeria del capitano, is this just as good as pizza pirate because I am considering canceling my cruise lol (joking obviously!) also, is this pizza place the same as pizza pirate and open really late or 24hrs?

I tried it on Vista in June... if you like coal-fired thin crust pizza, it's for you! I thought it tasted burnt and too crispy! But then I love Chicago-style pizza so I'm doomed anyway!

But from a taste perspective, it was pretty good, even if the style wasn't my style!

I think they just renamed the Pizza Pirate on newer ships, to include refitted ships like Sunrise. The new Italian restaurant on some ships is called Cucina del Capitano, so that seems to be the  theme with the Italian eatery names. I don't mind oven-fired, thin crust pizza just as long as it's not burnt on the bottom. It ends up like charcoal. In our experience with the Pizza Pirate, you get this occasionally, but usually not the whole thing, so I've just avoided those pieces.

I have always seen a conveyor type oven too, but still get the odd burnt part.  I still LOVE the pizza though, its my daily late night snack haha hoping the new name is just that, a new name!

On our last cruise it got kind of rough, and I got to feeling a little queasy.  Knowing that something in your stomach can help, I got up and got a pizza at 4am.  That was one of the best tasting pizzas I ever had, and it did the trick.

Pizza is nothing like it used to be. Still good but used to be great IMO.

Late at night I guess it's better than a swift kick in the pants..even though I'll try it probably only once.i don't do long lines these days.but I should have a new bionic knee before my next cruise.but there is hardly a line on msc for their pizza it's grab and go.we will see when the carnival Cruise comes around it's quite a while yet.im in no hurry.
