Equinox/Sky Suite/Luminae & Dinner Question

Hello all

In March, I'll be sailing onboard Equinox in a Sky Suite.  I haven't been on Celebrity in many years and this will also be the first time cruising in a Suite on Celebrity.

I understand part of the main restaurant is Luminae and reserved for Suite guests.    How does this work?

Do you make dinner reservations for Luminae or is it open seating based on availability?  (not sure it's large enough for all suite guests so was wondering if it is like an every night thing if you wanted).  Are breakfast and lunch in Luminae open seating based on availability too?

If you wish to eat in the main restaurant for dinner instead and order from that menu, do you utilize the main dining room open seating option?   Our TA seemed to think it wasn't necessary to select main seating or late seating etc for the main restaurant since we were in a suite.

Thanks for any feedback or advice and apologies in advance of this has been discussed anywhere else and I just missed seeing it.  :)

Johnny

Your TA is right, Luminae is your assigned dining room.  It's open seating and you just go when you are ready to dine.  While it doesn't hold the entire suite population at once crowding is not an issue.  On occasion you may need to wait for a couple of minutes while they reset a table.

On all ships except the Edge class Luminae shares a galley with the MDR so if you would like something off the MDR menu it's no problem.

The service and ambiance in Luminae is wonderful.

Luminae is the MDR for suite passengers.  You do not make reservations.  It is large enough that we have never had much of wait, if any wait at all.  Your TA is correct that you do not select an early or late dining time.  It is open for dinner and breakfast every day, and open for lunch on sea days.  It will also be open for lunch on embarkation day.  They will have copies of the MDR menus available if you wish to select an item from the MDR.  Also, the Michael's Club concierge will have copies of all restaurant menus available in the MC.  Enjoy your time on board.

Luminae is your assigned DR, not the MDR. As said above, you can order off either the Luminae menu of the day or the MDR menu while dining in Luminae, where most people feel the service and atmosphere are superior to the MDR. Main reason most suite guests would want to go to the MDR would be to dine with friends who are not in a suite. If that happens (or you want to dine there for some other reason), ask the Maitre d' in Luminae or the Michaels' Club concierge to arrange it for you. I believe suite guests can still also dine in Blu (the designated DR for Aqua Class guests) on a space available basis, if you are looking for a change of scenery.

Another option available to you is to dine in your suite. Your butler would be glad to bring you dinner from the MDR menu, just tell him that you want to do that and he will arrange times, etc with you. He will also be the one to deliver a full breakfast to you if you want (there will be  a card in the room to fill out and put outside the door for your breakfast order.)

Totally love food and service in luminae, you will totally be spoiled after that, free drinks with great service from early morning till late in micheals. Only minor issue is luminae is normally closed for lunch when in port.

We were in a Sky Suite for our "Honeymoon" to the Greek Isles on Equinox.  As everyone has stated it's open seating and we never experienced any issue with having to wait for a table.  The restaurant was active,  but never completely full.  It was a wonderful experience and I can't wait until we can splurge on a suite again.  It was worth every penny for our special occasion.  And don't miss lunch in Luminae on Sea Days.  Lunch was just as amazing.

It is first come first  seated.   We were very disappointed because we usually have  to wait a year before we were served.   The joys of booking in advance.

It s very nice and a step up from Blu.  They also serve lunch on embarkation and sea days.  The wait was very short and it was mostly because the hostess was seating someone and we had to wait for her  to come back.  Still around as we didn’t  die from starvation by having to wait.

I have heard that they will will give you a pager if very busy or you want a certain table.   We were never given one.

enjoy

Although you do not require reservations, we always make them.  This helps them to plan a little better when they have an idea of whether guests prefer to eat early or later.

We' have never needed reservations, but if you can get them go for it. The staff try and seat your where you want. Normally with the same staff each night if they can. We like the layout of Luminae on the M class ships better. We try and show up about the same time each night as they try and save your favorite table.

Being that we are in a suite for our next cruise on the Equinox and, that Luminae is our assigned Dining Room, do you know if we can request the same table-for-two each night, for our dinner in Luminae?  Thanks all!

You can request it and will get it if it is open.   There aren’t any reservations.

If you really need and want that table you can ask for a pager and then wait for it.
