Scheduling a car service for pickup at Brooklyn terminal after Princess cruise

Great thread with lots of info..we are also on this cruise and staying for a couple days post cruise in NYC..we are planning on using the subway to get around..a little apprehensive though as it seems very complicated..we are staying in Brooklyn near Prospect Park, mainly due to price. I have booked our transportation to JFK with Quick Ride after reading about it here. We are mainly interested in lower Manhattan,  911 Memorial and Brooklyn Bridge..

buffpuff2,   you can take the ferry right from cruise port over to pier 11 in lower manhattan;  you will go right by the Brooklyn Bridge and from the pier 11 ferry terminal you can catch taxi to 911 memorial.

If you tell us the specifics of where you're staying it will be easier for people to point you to the right transportation options. Frankly the Prospect Park area and hotels are not things that automatically match in my mind.

Some of the hotels listed as being in PP, depending on the hotel/online booking or search engine ... are actually further away from the area, i.e. Sunset Park and even Red Hook.  To book it on the basis of cost savings is not necessary a smart move as some are not recommended, for variety of reasons (known history of prostitution and drug arrests and/or used by NGO like the Red Cross & government agencies for emergency & shelter needs for both short and long term stays in a diverse neighborhood (nothing against them, just a FYI)   Prices & savings might be marginal and not much lower than certain areas in Manhattan.  

 

Subway train services to/from Manhattan run mostly along the busy north-south 4th Avenue with R, N and D lines with express services during weekday rush hours ... the area has been gentrified over the last 10 years with mid-rise condos replacing some of the old wood frame houses & commerical warehouses.  Usual caution about smart travel do apply when returning late in the evening.  Please check Google, TripAdvisor and Yelp reviews for detailed ratings and comments about your specific one.  

 

Check Long Island City in Queens, just 1 stop or more from midtown East by subway and deals can be found sometimes on Hot*
