Avalon Waterways - Hotel Recommendations for Amsterdam

I have just booked my first river cruise with Avalon - Tulip Time May 6, 2020 saling from Amsterdam.  I am looking for hotel recommendations that are near the dock or close by as I will be arriving the day before the cruise starts.  I tried to find out which dock in Amsterdam we would be sailing from; however, that information is not yet available.

May is a popular month in Amsterdam.

We have visited the city a few times pre/post river cruising and have not stayed near the port but many do.

Its an easy city to get around with good public transport or taxis are available.

We like the museum area, parks shops and dining.

Depends what your requirements are in terms of budget, aircon, elevator and so on.

Large hotels near the dock areas include the Movenpick and Doubletree.

Happy selecting plenty of choices and budgets.

We have stayed at the Doubletree twice on cruises starting in Amsterdam and find the location very convenient (and the Hilton Honors points are nice too!).

Suntan, on the Avalon Waterways website, it lists the "Westcord Jakarta" hotel in Amsterdam for pre and post night stays for your cruise. It is right on the docks so the ship is going to be very close.  It is an excellent location from which you can easily walk over to  the Old Town section of Amsterdam.
