airboss1998 Posted August 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2019 Just booked our first TA and are BIG fans of the retreat Cabanas. Anyone with suggestions/thoughts on weather/suitability on the crossing (October 31 - November 13). There were days on the Southern Carribean/Panama Canal that the winds were pretty brutal, but it was alway warm enough. Wondering about winds and temps during the crossing. Thanks. catl331 Posted August 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2019 (edited) We did a northern T-A (Voyage of Vikings, Copenhagen to NYC) Aug 27 to Sep 15 and none of the Retreat cabanas were sold. They were open to everyone for viewing while in the Greenland fjords and we could see that many were being used for storage. I don't know if they were not available for sale, or if simply no one chose purchase one, but it was pretty cold and breezy when we were there. A southern T-A would probably be better. Mickb Posted August 24, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2019 If it is a southern TA, the chances are that the weather will be warm and fine - at least for most of the time. Go for it!
DeeniEncinitas Posted August 24, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 24, 2019 I’d go for it !!! We have enjoyed many cabanas! Our first one was on The Nieuw Amsterdam on her inaugural! That was so fun!! Denise😊
kevingastreich Posted August 24, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 24, 2019 If you already have a Signature Suite, would a cabana be a waste? Thanks.

I might have thought that, but booked a cabana on a Nieuw Statendam Christmas Caribbean cruise last year and loved the convenience of stewards, nearby hot tub, lounges in the shade in our cabana or in the sun outside of the cabana, stewards to bring lunch or breakfast to us (and champagne and chocolate covered strawberries and frozen grapes). It was wonderful--and we had a Neptune suite. Already booked a cabana for a Panama Canal cruise April 2021.

Absolutely not, in our opinion. But your opinion may differ. We only stay in Neptune suites...like Signature Suites, don't have the service, views and amenities a Retreat Cabana do.
Rare *Miss G* Posted August 25, 2019 #8 Share Posted August 25, 2019 We did an October TA in a Retreat Cabana. Obviously no one can predict what weather you will have but it was lovely and warm for us. Perfect Cabana weather. For comparison, our last Cabana in the Caribbean in December was cold and wet.
