Choice of cabin number for paid upgrade offer?

We have no experience in handling a paid upgrade offer, so, when you receive a paid upgrade offer for upgrade in cabin class, can you negotiate cabin number if you respond by phone?

Yes, but be prepared before you call - know what you want (deck, area, category and even specific cabin numbers).  You can sometimes get some information on what is available from your TA or online from HAL or travel websites (but the number they show as open is often limited - there may be more).

 

And of course - RESPOND quickly to the offer, as they can go very quickly.

Yes you can!

The times we have been offered the up sell, the agent at the cruise-line made us aware of all the staterooms that were available during our conversation  over the phone. But please be aware sometimes there is no choice available,

We were given a choice of about 10 cabins for our recent upgrade on the Westerdam.  We had booked a guarantee room, so one of the final considerations to buy the upgrade was so we would have our cabin selected.

Yes, we’ve never taken the upgrade but have seriously considered it and always have had a choice on cabins. Even when we didn’t like the choices offered when we explained why we were offered additional cabins.  I’m sure that isn’t always the case though.

I have always been given the cabin numbers when the offer is made, sometimes I have to ask.
