mek Posted September 5, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2019 My friend, who has no cruise experience, booked POA for the 11/9/19 sailing. She has cabin 7654 for three adults - mother, father, daughter. I'm not sure exactly how much she paid, but I'm pretty sure it was top dollar with no negotiation. She wasn't offered any additional perks at the time of booking. Suddenly her other daughter and her husband decide to go and she called and booked their cabin directly with NCL at a much lower price and had the perks thrown in, (they took the beverage pkg.) The family are big drinkers and now she's in shell shock over the drink pkg prices for the three of them. I don't cruise frequently on NCL and don' know the answer to this question, so can anyone tell me if they ever send any deals to buy the beverage package at a lower cost? She did receive a cabin upgrade offer, but didn't bite. I thought maybe they occasionally do the same thing with the beverage packages. worktocruise610 Posted September 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2019 When did she book the cruise? The beverage package has been an offer for the first 2 passengers for what feels like forever. Did she book thru a travel agent? Is it a sail away cabin? I've not seen them go on sale, just offered as a free perk (you pay the 20% gratuity on package price). If she booked a sail away maybe she can upgrade & get the packages, may still save money.
Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted September 6, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2019 Have been cruising NCL for a few years now and have never seen an offer for Beverage Package deals. Additionally, I have not researched a cruise on NCL in the last few years that didn’t include at least 2 perks, ie Beverage Package and specialty dining or something like that. It’s a shame they missed out on the perks. Perhaps it has something to do with POA specifically. If they are drinkers, they should prepare to bite the bullet for a drinks package. mek Posted September 6, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted September 6, 2019 (edited) I don't know the details but I personally think she should call her TA and ask why the perk option wasn't offered to her. Edited September 6, 2019 by mek
Rare BirdTravels Posted September 6, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2019 The beverage package for the POA is relatively new. While it has been offered in all other markets for a few years now, NCL only recently figured out how to offer a package and still be in compliance with the Hawaiian laws (since it is a US Flagged ship sailing only in Hawaiian waters). The OP's friends may have booked prior to the package being offered. However, any good travel agent should have fixed that prior to making final payment (when the package was available). Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted September 6, 2019 #8 Share Posted September 6, 2019 Pride of America....the name of the NCL ship that does the Hawaii itineraries. Someone should really make an CC acronym library 😀.

Well I'm in trouble, the name I go by is a acronym of the three names on my birth certificate. LOL And POA is a lot easier to type in than Pride of America. If you think this is confusing - try going over to Princess - for example, CB is Caribbean Princess. Edited September 6, 2019 by mek
