Onboard credit usage

The only thing I know of that can't be charged against OBC is the deposit for a cruise that you book on board.  I don't know about the art auctions.

As far as I know it can go toward your grats unless, of course, you pre-pay them.  Since I always choose to pre-pay I have no personal experience with this.

It always has for me. If I have OBC I don't prepay my grats and I let the OBC take care of it.

One thing I'll add...Shareholder OBC says you can't use it for grats. So I always make sure I use that on an excursion or the steakhouse or something. OBC I get from carnival for booking, TA, price drops, all can go towards grats.

Technically most onboard credits cannot be used for gratuities or casino charges per the T&Cs accompanied by each set of onboard credit.

In practice, it is not currently enforced.

This

No matter what kind of OBC I have  It's the first to come off my room statement and goes against any charges. Not one thing in particular,  So if you have $300 OBC that the first money used before they charge your regular form of payment.

they do however charge your non refundable OBC first then your refundable.
