Veggie entrees at Steak House?

As the originator of this thread, I thought I'd give an update: I emailed Carnival and explained exactly what I posed here. They told me it would be no problem: I should check with the steakhouse when I get on board, and they would decide what they could do on the ship. I was planning to do this anyway. I have no doubt they will do something delicious.

We were on the Oct. 20th sailing of the Glory.  There was a vegan woman on the ship who was one of the nastiest human beings I have encountered.  I saw her at 3 meals each one no less than 8 crew members were at her table catering to her and nothing was good enough.  I know it can be challenging to eat out when you are vegan but the crew were bending over backwards for this women and she was horrible.  She even yelled at a crew member for pouring water in her water glass.

And you think there was a correlation between her being vegan and nasty because...??  My son is vegan and all of his vegan friends are the most gentle, non-judgmental, kind people I know. That being said, we all know there are just some jerks out there, meat eater and non meat eaters

Many of us cruise with family members that have different dietary needs than ourselves.  It's nice to be able to eat together in different venues.  My husband loves his filet, I am a vegetarian.  Would I go to the steakhouse if I was cruising on my own?  No.  Do I want him to miss out on his beloved filet because he's cruising with me?  No.  I am perfectly content on other lines that only offer the side dishes to vegetarians - I've had many meals of a baked potato and steamed asparagus (or other veg).  My husband calls me his "cheap date".  I love that Carnival goes a step beyond that - it's a selling point for me.  I've never insisted on having or become offended by the lack of a veggie burger and I don't think I've seen a post where any other veg head has either.  Disappointment maybe.  Most of us roll with the punches, we're used to it.

Well said!!

This post is quite rude. I haven't heard anyone on this thread, or really on this board in general demand that they be served something in particular due to a dietary restriction. It's generally posts like this where the poster knows what is on the menu and is perfectly fine making due with what is one the menu but simply asking if there are off menu options. Asking and insisting are not the same thing. Especially considering this isn't a restaurant where they have a particular menu with cooks who are trained to cook it and they only source their menu items. This is a cruise ship where there are stores for a great number of items, and other kitchens on the ship where they are cooking many other menu items. It's not unreasonable to simply ask what the options are.

I AGREE!  I thought that as soon as I started to read it...

I just got off the Sunshine and went to the steakhouse. I had the mushroom appetizer, which was amazing, and then the chef prepared me an entree. I was never asked what I do or don't like and I was a bit worried. I was brought a huge plate of pasta filled with veggies. It had Zucchini, Broccoli, Asparagus, peppers, etc. And it was delicious!

I didn't say that but she was using the fact that she is a vegan to have people cater to her whims.   My niece is a vegan and she would never act like that.  I have even thrown her an all vegan bridal shower as well as a baby shower, they were her parties and her beliefs needed to be respected.

Did you feel it was worth the $38 charge?  The meal the chef prepared for you sounds really good.

To be honest, I didn't pay for it since my husband received a comp from the casino, but I would absolutely pay for it next time.
