John117 Posted October 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2019 We join Regent Mariner in Lima on 16th November 2019 and are staying overnight at the airport hotel. We have a taxi booked to take us to the port to join the ship but wondered if the taxi will be able to take us all the way to the ship? Does anyone know what happens at the port gate? Do we have to leave the taxi and transfer to a shuttle bus to the ship? There isn't obviously a cruise terminal building so presumably we will also have to take our luggage onto the shuttle bus? Any advice appreciated.
Hambagahle Posted October 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2019 (edited) When we boarded the Mariner in Callao (apparently pronounced " Cajao" by the locals!) we used Lima Tours for our transfer. They dropped us right at the ship and registration was held in the Constellation Theatre. (Lima Tours, BTW, were sensational. I had a serious health problem (food poisoning) and they dealt with things more than perfectly...) Edited October 24, 2019 by Hambagahle
John117 Posted October 24, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted October 24, 2019 Thanks for the reply. Can I ask if you were transported in a car, van or coach and did you have to produce any documents at the gate. We have been to Lima before so don't need a tour. We also arrive late on the previous day so not a lot of time to sightseeing. Thanks again
Wendy The Wanderer Posted October 24, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 24, 2019 I believe when we disembarked in Callao we had to take the shuttle to the gate where our guides picked us up. Just one data point. But you should ask the people you booked the transfer with, they will tell you.
Rare ronrick1943 Posted October 24, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 24, 2019 Thanks to all, we won't be going to Lima until 2021, but had no idea about the port conditions.
