Allicakes2018 Posted October 28, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2019 We will be stopping at St. Kitts on a cruise in November. It will be my first time to St. Kitts (finally!), and we are traveling with our 4 & 5 yo children. I want to see the island but know they will not last on the 3 hour train that explores the island. Looking for a 1 to 2 hour activity where I'll be able to get a taste of the island. Not looking to spend tons of money, I just want to see what the island is about. We like to get off the boat first thing in the morning so we can make it back by nap time :)

Take a private room, as far this will be much better for a family with young children, for changing, showers etc.

It's a Special Day Room Pass Rate for the day Just follow the TTE Protocol TTE Protocol - copy/paste I've have never made reservations once on our visits to the Marriott, when are you going?? Between now and Christmas you won't need anything but a smile and a credit card for your $35.00(Please don't pay the booking fee.) day pass at the St. Kitts Marriott. It's this simple, when your taxi drops you off in front of the Marriott, you walk directly towards the concierge desk to your left with a big smile, credit card in hand, they're going to ask you what ship you are on, IF you happen to be cruising on a Carnival Cruise Ship, lie😄 and tell them your cruising on either a Princess, Royal Caribbean or even Holland America if you have too, hand them your credit card when she hands you your receipt walk over to the elevator get in it and hit THE BEACH button, walk out and go have a great day! First thing's first, go back to the bar order a good bloody mary and get a tab started, yep break out that credit card again. 😁 You'll figure out the rest. If you have 4-5 people in your group I would not only consider a day room, I would do a day room same price altogether you get a nice room for the day to keep your stuff and go and get out of the sun for a few it's nice, only way to go 4 or more. Have fun!! Edited October 29, 2019 by PORT ROYAL Protocol

My 5 year old is train obsessed but I worry the 2 year old will be unhappy on such a long train trip.

Because they will be full if you're from a Carnival ship. However, if you have a wish to declare yourself as being from a Carnival ship as an effective entry card, just go ahead and try. We like to get off the boat first thing in the morning so we can make it back by nap time 🙂 I'd recommend something like the day pass at the Marriott for people who have been to the island a few times. But for first timers I'd recommend a tour of the island. I have done the Grand Tour with Thenford Grey twice and have enjoyed it very much. It takes you around Bassettere, a nice botanical garden that houses a Batik factory. They also take you to a fort on Brimstone Hill which has amazing views as well. They stop at a lookout point famous for its view of a thin stretch of land that divides the Atlantic ocean and the Caribbean sea on their way to a nice beach, where you'll spend a few hours. Both times they took us to South Friars bay, but to two different places; Carambola Beach club (fancy, expensive chair rentals and food) and Shipwreck beach bar (inexpensive food and drinks, free chairs and palapas, good snorkeling). We've been there another time but we went directly to Shipwreck on our own but saw Thenford arrive with his tour group while we were there. Rare jean87510 Posted November 25, 2019 #14 Share Posted November 25, 2019 If i may jump in, both parties inquiring have small children who may not enjoy a tour. I've posted before re the day room and with small children i recommend it. Another suggestion is to rent a car and explore st. Kitt on your own. Its an easy island to drive around. I'd suggest the fort and a beach (shipwreck if still open).
Allicakes2018 Posted November 25, 2019 Author #15 Share Posted November 25, 2019 Thanks! We ended up taking a taxi to shipwreck beach. It was decent but only stayed 2 hours. Overall, it was my least favorite out of the 3 islands we visited.
Rare jean87510 Posted November 25, 2019 #16 Share Posted November 25, 2019 Its a nice island but one you need to preplan with little ones. Next time rent a car. 😎 Ive been there quite a few times and loved the hike up Mt liamiuga one time and when we rent a car to drive around.
