He's scheduled for his time away and if in port or at sea, he works 12-18 hours per day with no days off for weeks at a time (and certainly no overtime) until it's time for his leave. No such thing as the European working time directives when you work at sea. He works for one of the companies with better conditions as well! see my response above 😊

Monorail Orange Posted December 16, 2019 #208 Share Posted December 16, 2019 (edited) It seems like its took ages sitting here, bet it feels ever longer for those on board. Of course there are upsides, but I bet they're (mostly) glad to be home. Edited December 16, 2019 by Monorail Orange

Andy Yes its something we try to do each year, since we both retired, although we had our Caribbean xmas cruise on the Oriana cancelled a couple of years ago, because of engine problems, so I can empathise with others in the same boat, so to speak. Look out for me and Phil on the karaoke.!! Clive

eddie11 Posted February 6, 2020 #221 Share Posted February 6, 2020 Just in case anyone is watching a shipping movements website this afternoon - Captain told us yesterday that the software update for the thrusters was successful but that the software engineers would like to do one last test before they disembark tomorrow. Soooo, Ventura will be doing a 360 degree turn - pirouette, as he said - between 3&6 this afternoon. Much as we might wish to be heading back to the Caribbean, Southampton remains our destination!

Perhaps they could move straight onto the website after they've signed it off 😃 </sarcasm> 1
