Puppy09 Posted January 2, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2020 Hi, we are sailing on the Encore on the 1st March and have a 2 night pre cruise stop in MIAMI. We are flying in from the UK on the Friday afternoon , so will be staying Friday and Saturday night. Can anyone recommend a good convenient hotel? And also the best thing to do in MIAMI on a short stay? Thank you
Rare ColeThornton Posted January 2, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2020 Welcome to the forum. Check out the Florida Departures forum for hotel, transportation and things to do. They are on the trolley route which is free and you can ride it to the Bayside Marketplace. They are also on the MetroMover route which is also free and you can ride it to the Perez Art Museum and also the Science museum. All are but a 10-15 minute distance. VideoTech Posted January 3, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2020 Hampton Inn & Suites, Brickell/Downtown is very popular with cruisers. It's in a great area with shops and restaurants around. If your budget allows it, the Epic (A Kimpton property) is a very luxurious hotel, right on the Miami river and with views to the ocean from many rooms.. There's also a JW Marriott right next door.
dpepper64 Posted January 4, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 4, 2020 stay at the Marriott. There 3 of them right next to each other great food and close to everything. Take a taxi to the cruise ship (they offer shuttle abot 20 dollars but take a taxi for about 25 that way you can pick your pick up)

Markanddonna Posted January 5, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 5, 2020 Actually, the Marriott recommend Uber which worked great. They said hardly anyone uses the shuttle these days. We don't anymore in Miami.
Rebels82 Posted January 5, 2020 #9 Share Posted January 5, 2020 For those that drive to Miami, does the Marriott charge you to leave your car there while you are gone on your cruise?
4774Papa Posted January 5, 2020 #10 Share Posted January 5, 2020 We used the Holiday Inn Express by the Miami Airport, since they include free parking. You won't have that problem, so you may wish to stay close to the ocean. One thing about Miami, it seriously has a crime problem. Before you go into a certain area of the city, find out what areas not to go into.
ItsAllAboutTheSass Posted January 5, 2020 #11 Share Posted January 5, 2020 I usually stay at the Intercontinental
beerman2 Posted January 5, 2020 #12 Share Posted January 5, 2020 Have stayed at both Intercontinental And Marriott Biscayne Bay with port view rooms. Enjoyed both places. Uber is the way to go, about 1/2 of what a taxi costs. I've been in some really bad smelling cabs before Uber .
disneylover89 Posted January 5, 2020 #13 Share Posted January 5, 2020 We always stay at Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown/Brickell. Nice, clean rooms and a good, free breakfast buffet.

Enjoyed both almost equally. If you get the intercontinental pony up for a waterfront view. Truuuuuust me.

Puppy09 Posted January 7, 2020 Author #17 Share Posted January 7, 2020 Thank k you for your advice. As there is a sale on with intercontinental that includes breakfast, we are going to book that. As we are only there 2 nights (1 full day) we were thinking of doing a hop on bus tour. Does anyone know how far it is to the stop from the hotel please? And is the nearby park safe? Thank you👍😁
