What's wrong with just using a credit card?

Because (as the OP stated) they have Euros left over from previous trips and would like to use them? Credit card just doesn't accomplish that.

Well I can certainly understand that. We tend to use a credit card for most things but I did end up with 25 euros sitting in my wallet when we got home last time. Our next cruises are Australia and New Zealand so may end up getting currency there as well. For now, the 25 euros are just sitting in a drawer. Someday...

I would expect I'd have trouble using £ or € in USA but I would not complain or make racist comments.  Most countries have their own currencies.  Why should you expect everyone to accept yours?

I agree that the comment about the French was inappropriate but  so is insinuating that someone is a racist. For the record, French is a nationality not a race.

UN, EU, U.K. and others, consider discrimination based on nationality, citizenship or colour to be racist behaviour.
