Hubbys work are an extremely good company though. I think most of the cover things we have are discounted.

It sounds like a very generous perk, and I would not worry unduly, I had similar perks when working and the limited claims I had to make where always handled swiftly, efficiently and never led to any increase in premiums. Although the tax man always wanted his pound of flesh.

It’s a block policy, presumably, available to all employees.  If that’s the case, the premiums will be low for various reasons such as low administrative costs and spreading of risk. The price doesn’t seem out of the way.

yes. It’s a block policy available to all them.

was starting to worry when others said it was low.

luckily we have never had to claim on travel insurance but hubby did something to his back last year, drs still don’t know what it was, he refused to go to a gp over there but it was in the last few days of holiday so just got home instead. Took a few weeks of rest then back to normal for him but had this been at the start of the holiday he would have had to go and with all the horror stories you read and especially as I have little kids I always need to make sure we have everything right.

I still don’t feel old enough to be doing all this sometimes.

On the subject of travel insurance if anyone is having problems getting cover for over 80s try Natwest or Nationwide. They provide good annual cover it you either have or open an account with them.

The only account with Nationwide is Flexplus and it costs £13 per month and then only covers you for travel insurance up to the age of 70 if you are older you have to pay extra for an age extension.

And of course for any pre-existing medical conditions.  I costed the additional premium with Nationwide and found it far cheaper to use another insurer.

It definitely says medical and repatriation unlimited. So you are fine, regardless of what it cost. You have it now and you are covered so relax............and move on to the next thing to worry about!😉😁

I have millions to worry about 😆
if you can’t tell I’m one of those people who fret and fret and get into a tizz

although the worst ones seem to be the nightmares of the kids going overboard. Which is made worse by news not so long ago.

luckily the kids know I don’t like them to go too close to the railing and they know I will absolutely lose my rag if they ever climbed said railings.  They were warned last time especially the youngest who has no regard for danger. Unfortunately for me no matter how good they were last time, anxiety still there. Try not to let it get best of me or probably never leave the house.

maybe that’s why I like to control every detail and make sure there’s things in place like the insurance should something ever happen. I hope to never have to claim on insurance at all.

worst that happened was eldest bust her nose and lip in the kids club. Was fine but not looking as good in the pictures.

I'm the same with kids on deck. I once had to leave because a child was crawling around the deck. My heart was in my mouth and I didn't even know them. I kept twitching every time he went too close to the edge.

Oh, and I had noticed you were a worrier. I was just joking with you as you also seem to be up for a laugh.

yes I think everyone has noticed I’m a worrier. I just wear it now. Hubby takes the mick out of me all the time cos that’s what I’m like. I also jump very easy too. My eldest loves to do that.

it’s never half as bad as what’s in my head but so many dangers I see now I’ve got kids that I didn’t see before.

As we await repatriation from the Azores- the insurance company have gone through all our declarations and medical records from our GP before they agreed to the claim. Even to the extent of 'losing' the final medical declaration. Luckily I had it on my laptop, and as soon as I sent it to them it was 'miraculously' found.

I do hope all’s well, and that everything gets sorted out satisfactorily.  Insurance companies will always, business being business, go through everything with a fine tooth comb looking for reasons to reject a claim.  All the more reason to take very great care to make a full disclosure of all medical conditions, however seemingly trivial, when health questions are asked.

That's all you need in worrying times, but that's what they do..

Hope all is working out and you are all OK.

Lesson to us all!

No point in having insurance, if it does not cover in time of need.

I thought! does not work, need to be certain

Pay up and sleep well.

I am pleased to hear that the insurance company are paying up, Ataraxia for your claim I recently had to cancel a cruise and am awaiting to hear if insurance will pay up, not helped by a few anomelies to do with my hospital treatment and medical records.Firstly I went to see my GP for a problem that came on suddenly. He referred me to hospital same day for tests- a diagnoses was made(at very end of day) and I was discharged to care of GP with medication.I wasn t well enough to travel and had to cancel a few days before travel.Saw same GP a week later who was surprised that I had been discharged to his care as according to NICE guidelines my condition should be led by a  hospital specialist so GP had to ,Google!' long term management!!Sure that won't help my claim.Additionally same GP (who I only saw for first time when he referred me to hospital) completed my claim form for insurance purposes.I was surprised to see under 'other long term conditions' a diagnoses of a condition that I had supposedly had since I was 12 years old which had been listed as 'stable'.I queried this to be told it wasn't possible to change a medical condition which apparently had been coded! I insisted that there had been some error and that my sisters could confirm that I had never had a day off school as a child let alone been to hospital and another GP agreed to look through my paper records. She could find no evidence that I had ever been diagnosed or treated for such a condition and over the top of the listed condition which is said to be 'stable' on my medical certificate she has added 'incorrect code and removed from patients records'.After watching all the TV programmes about insurance companies trying to get out of paying, I am expecting problems! It has not helped my blood pressure which after years of being borderline is now high needing tablets and another new condition to declare!! It is also important to read documents carefully as we have insurance through our bank and about a year ago we had a letter stating that in future anyone diagnosed with common conditions like high BP, cholestrol etc no longer had to notify the insurance company about the diagnoses.Shortly after receiving the letter I had to phone to add a minor new condition but was due an annual check up so mentioned this and said that I understood that if my BP was high etc I would not have to declare it.'Oh you have to declare everything 'she replied, the letter just refers to anyone who hasn t already got any medical conditions! The letter certainly didn t seem to imply this. I am sure a lot of the problems have been caused by people being encouraged to make insurance claims on TV and by phone.I am waiting to hear from my insurance company with baited breath!

Oh what a pain for you Ann...

I hope it gets sorted quickly for you but, most importantly, look after yourself and try not to get too stressed with it all, easier said than done I know.

Take care,

Andy

Sorry to hijack your thread Vampiresse88 but I have a travel insurance issue myself so thought I might as well add it to yours.

We are on a Britannia cruise in the Caribbean on 29th of Feb.  My husband used to be a keen walker. Over 12 months ago he started getting pains in his leg and so went to see the doctor.  After much delay and cancellations by the NHS he finally had a scan last May. It took a couple of months before he got a diagnosis and he was told he had a vein blockage and in due course he would get treatment. They said it wasn’t anything serious. In August his walking became more painful after about 200 yards, so he made another appointment at our doctors. This doctor thought the diagnosis was incorrect. We then were back to square one in terms of getting another appointment to see a consultant.  We managed to speed things up by paying for a private consultation and different scan.  In January the consultant said it wasn’t what they originally thought, and though not serious, he needed a further scan to confirm the diagnosis  to enable them to make the decision on treatment.  He had an MRI scan last week and he is awaiting the consultants response

We have annual insurance with Staysure but when Ian rang them last week to update the policy they wouldn’t insure him while waiting for a diagnosis. They suggested he contact BIBA who would advise who would insure him and All Clear will do it at a cost.

Obviously we will pay as we do not want to miss our cruise. Ian has rung the consultants secretary who has very kindly offered to try and get an early response but time is running out.

Has anyone had a similar issue in the past? Also, how late can I update our travel insurance details on Cruise Personaliser?

It’s pretty standard practice I’m afraid when there’s any uncertainty as to a potential condition.  Staysure will cover the cancellation costs under the existing policy, presumably, but that’s not what you’re looking for.

Unless you can get a quick diagnosis, you may well have to obtain other cover, but it’s likely to be a bit pricey.

Thanks for your quick response Harry. As I said, we will pay the additional cost but am really hoping we don’t have to. Would rather put the money towards another cruise.

It's waiting for results that is the issue unfortunately.

Once you have them, the ins Co will be better placed to give you the correct cover.

Good luck,

Andy

Thanks Andy, All Clear said they would give us another quote if we got the results in time. Staysure also said to go back to them if things changed. It’s just frustrating. I like to get everything in place well before the departure day so that I can be nicely relaxed. We normally have annual insurance. The quote we were given for this cruise only was £755, annual was over £1000. We are going to the Baltic in June. We can’t decide which is the best option. Fingers crossed for us to hear something soon,

We now use onestop4travelinsurance after they were recommended on here.

There was a massive saving once Michelle had her results, even though they were not great. The concern for them was not knowing.

Hopefully you get the results soon.

Fingers crossed.
