Shuttle in Buenos Aires from the port to center of town?

We will be in Buenos Aires on the Coral Princess for 2 days at the beginning of our cruise, boarding on Feb. 20, but the ship only leaving on the next day at 6 pm.  Does Princess have a shuttle to take cruisers from the ship or from the port to the center of Buenos Aires to visit during the day? Is there a public bus, tram or subway or some other form of transportation available besides taxis?

There are shuttles from the ship in the busy port area to the cruise terminal.  You can take a taxi from there or arrange a private option.  What do you define as the center of Buenos Aires?  It is a huge city with many sections.

The jewelry store H Stern used to have free shuttles from the port to their store on Florida, I am not certain if they still run or not. From there it is about four blocks to Ave 9 de Julio one of the main streets in Buenos Aires. They like you to drop in the store but you do not need to buy anything.

And the ships dock back in the cargo area, a very congested area. I'm guessing they don't allow taxis back there.

Anyone know the distance to the Parque Ecological on the waterfront?

I have heard it is possibly walkable from the cruise terminal?

If you mean the Reserva Ecologica, I don't recommend walking from the rcuise terminal to there. It's rather far away (about 2 miles) and the area is rather industrial and lonely and rather unsafe to walk around with your luggage.

You can take a taxi from the cruise terminal, which is not far from the city centre. A taxi should cost less than USD 10.

We have walked from the cruise terminal into the  town, where we were able to catch the hop on/off bus. We were fortunate when we asked a police officer for directions that he had a friend who was going into town and he kindly led us. He gave us instructions in his broken English and our very broken Spanish to be careful of our possessions.

 

The bus was very interesting but busy on the first day the ship docked in B.A. so we had to wait for second bus at Recoleta Cemetery after visiting Eva Peron's tomb. We stayed on the bus for the rest of the circuit as we managed to get 'good seats'. 

 

Took a taxi back to cruise port but advise having it written in Spanish as the people we asked for walking directions did not understand what we were asking! Can't remember price, but quite inexpensive.

Thanks to all of you who have replied to my question.  From what I am reading, it is not recommended to walk in the area around the port. Reserva Ecologica does look close enough on the map, so thanks for letting us know that it is not a good idea to walk to it.

So by these replies can I assume that Princess does not offer any free or paid bus transport from the cruise terminal into town?

Since the cruise ships dock quite a way from the terminal, back in the cargo area, it seems that would be logistically difficult.

Many ports have a shuttle from the ship to the terminal. The cruise lines simply have their shuttle buses leave from the terminal (after the guests take the port shuttle from ship to terminal). Complimentary or paid Shuttles to town usually leave from same location as cruise line's tour buses. 

 

If Princess does not offer it's own shuttle to town, does anyone know if there is a public bus or tram from cruise terminal to town. As I recall the terminal is not near the metro of BA.

No shuttle two years ago.

 

As I stated above,. walked into town and had taxi back to port as docked overnight.

 

Taxis were available from outside of port. We left early when there was no great queue, not sure how busy it was later,
