Hi Guys,

Just got confirmation from MSC. Major status on Ponant matched to Diamond (maximum) on MSC.

"Thank you for participating in the Status Match program with MSC Cruises, and welcome to the Voyagers Club! You are now Diamond card member and your number is xxxxxxx.  Please contact your Travel Agent to have the Voyagers Club discount added to your booking. Enjoy all your exclusive benefits right away, on your first cruise with MSC Cruises; just don’t forget to communicate your Club number at the time of booking.

As a reminder, the Status Match is a one-time courtesy to allow our guests to join us at a higher level than they might otherwise be able to. Once you’ve been matched, we’re not able to change your level by matching you again, but every cruise you take with us, as well as your on-board spending will add points to your account and increase or maintain your level. You are required to cruise with us at least once every 3 years to retain your membership."

Happy to take any questions.

MSC was originally very free with 'black' [now renamed Diamond] status matches, but they then cut back dramatically so that only the very top level would qualify.  Congrats on your good fortune.  Either they don't know what Ponant levels mean [you may be the first to have used Ponant to qualify] or perhaps they feel that luxury lines automatically merit Diamond treatment.

This status match will give you 5% off the best fares plus some free dinners in the specialty restaurants [and other minor things].  But you may qualify for an even bigger discount if you are a current or retired military, teacher, or any kind of public employee – they get 10% off the best fares!

While they are completely different in terms of ship size, we enjoyed our MSC Yacht Club Mediterranean cruise as much as our Ponant Iceland cruise.  [Iceland is of course unique, and that will be the big draw of Ponant in the future – MSC itineraries are very much same-old, same-old while Ponant's are much more varied and interesting.  But if all you want is a mega-port Caribbean or Mediterranean getaway, MSC Yacht Club is hard to beat!]
