Mike981 Posted February 15, 2020 #26 Share Posted February 15, 2020 We book the Caribbean in January and have never seen the price go down. Someday...
Swordfish1949 Posted February 16, 2020 #27 Share Posted February 16, 2020 We're booked on the Summit to Canada/Greenland/Iceland/Ireland in August - a reservation booked Dec-2018.....since then the price has more than doubled. Our lesson learned.....book early
Rare NMTraveller Posted February 16, 2020 #28 Share Posted February 16, 2020 As the ship books up prices go up... Book early and often... The more popular cruises will book up very early. The Carribean probably doesnt qualify.

That being said $8900 for a balcony cabin is insane.
deliver42 Posted February 16, 2020 #30 Share Posted February 16, 2020 Celebrity's prices have gotten insane. We booked the Reflection back in January for a TA in 2021. We paid $4300.00 with 4 perks. The price is now about $5400.00 with 3 perks. We have the Premium drink pkg, and now the 3 perk has the Classic. Was looking to upgrade to a balcony, and they are over$6400.00. At these prices we never would have booked Celebrity. There are other options out there that we are still considering for the same price or less and they include a balcony. ipeeinthepool Posted February 18, 2020 #31 Share Posted February 18, 2020 I booked a balcony cabin for a 12 day on the Eclipse in Feb 2022 when they were first introduced a couple of months ago and it would cost me about $1000 more today for the same reservation with a non-refundable deposit. Just insane.
sanger727 Posted February 18, 2020 #32 Share Posted February 18, 2020 We ran into huge price fluctuations a couple years ago on a Hawaii cruise. Think it was the uniqueness of the itinerary that caused people to overbook. We got in around 2200 pp for a balcony; it then dropped to a bit under $2000 a person and we were able to take advantage of the drop. Over the next six months the prices climbed up to close to $4,000 a person as the balconies sold out. Predictably, many people must have booked just in case they wanted to go (this was before non refundable deposits) and after final payment many balconies opened back up and think the prices dropped down to $1,5000 pp. It happens, it always has and always will. But you would hope the non-refundable deposits would help with the extreme fluctuations a bit.
lovescarborough Posted February 18, 2020 #33 Share Posted February 18, 2020 I agree there are some huge price rises at the minute. I also wonder what will happen to future pricing when the Company counts the cost of all the cruises cancelled because of Coronavirus ?
floridacruisers Posted February 18, 2020 #34 Share Posted February 18, 2020 (edited) We're also booked on the Reflection 2021 TA in AQ1 class. Got it for $2479 each with insurance and taxes. Now it's $3479. We booked while on the ship so got some OBC and gratuities. Don't really need the drink package as we are Elite+ and do not drink that much. It was $2279 before we got on the ship so I booked as soon as I got onboard. Feel as though I got a fair price for the cruise. Just have to watch the price before final payment because you never know what inventory control will do. Next hurdle is airfare from AMS to Orlando without being crammed in like sardines. We were part of a group booking at $1600 in a veranda - 3 perks. Last week inside offered at $389 and veranda at $809 - no perks. There were lots of cabins open. This week prices with 1 perk offered almost double the no perk price from last week. The Greenland cruise mentioned is a specialty cruise, not a real TA. Have been on many TAs and they often drop in price near or after final payment date.
annual cruiser 1968 Posted February 18, 2020 #36 Share Posted February 18, 2020 I recently booked a January 2021 cruise with the 4 perk package. 7 hours later, the same 4 perk package was not available at the same price (it went up $400 pp) and the same cruise, same cabin class was almost $1700 more. Cruise ships use a computer program to set pricing so that it is extremely unlikely that prices will ever be lower than the day you look or book. Oh the prices do indeed drop, have seen it happen on nearly every cruise we've taken.
