Casino Royale (Watch your points closely!!)

Recommended Posts

I am hear to warn each and every cruiser that uses the "benefits of our losses" to become Prime members or higher in the Casino.  We all know who we are and we all know what benefits that come from gambling while we cruise.  We treasure our points, we watch them like a hawk, and we all know that the 2500 point threshold gets you to a level that gets you the free cruise, free drinks in the casino...

Let me tell you that we cruise twice or more a year and ALWAYS make sure we get to the Prime level.  Anything under it is really counter productive benefits wise.  My wife and I sailed on Serenade with my parents in September and  I accumulated 1386 not many but enough under the circumstances.  We sailed January 4th with 9 of us including our grandson so we knew Casino time would be down but knew we only needed to get 1114 points (piece of cake).

This is where we REALLY GOT SHAFTED.  I went to book our 2021 January cruise and wanted to add something to our September Oasis cruise so I called the Casino Royale line.  Everything was great until the rep told me my point total they had on file for my 2 cruises.  I was horrified to hear they had us down for 2492, 8 points short of prime which is the equivalent of 40.00 in a slot machine.

I can tell you one thing and my wife will vouch for me.  I am as anal as it comes about my points and I ALWAYS leave the ship following up with the casino host before I cash out my points on the final day to play on my machine.  My point total was 1216 on the machine not even including my table play which was VERY MINIMAL.

I went through management, talked to 3 casino Reps and sent a very detailed letter to Mr. Bayleys office.

For my efforts I got a call saying I am out of luck  and pretty much told me I have a few more weeks to get on another cruise to get those 8 points.  We are both devastated and disappointed that they pretty much did'nt believe us at all.  We live in Maine so we cant just drive to a cruise port and take a 3 day cruise to get my measly 8 points.

A lot of you will think this is petty and we should get over it but in the end the benefits of being prime are pretty significant.  Being told we are wrong when I can honestly swear on my life that we are POSITIVE we where over 2500 points kills me.  Those that play I am sure you feel my pain as that thresh hold is what we all strive for.

We are diamond and have truly loved all of our cruises over the years but to have them "kick us to the curb" is mind blowing.  Not sure I have anywhere else to turn to at this point except sail all next year as choice (which will kill me).

So my loss is your gain as I WARN YOU ALL that play in the casino.  WATCH YOUR POINTS CLOSELY AND TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR READOUT.

I would not waste any of your time if I was not POSITIVE we have been wronged in this case.  Dan

Just got off mariner 4nt

The points are crazy and Table players don’t stand a chance.I received   200 pts for 1100 $ or so on slots

15000+ table play  900 pts.

When I asked for pt count. I mentioned my handle at tables to host  because I felt my pts should of been higher ,host said your up aren’t you.  Not the point! Its about what you risk to lose, I asked about my average bet  100$ roulette, 50$ blackjack they only had my initial bet ,times how many hrs, never recorded my bigger bets to increase my Average bet.

So I walked off ship 1300 -+ pts  Didn’t get last Nts points

Host did give instant free inside cruise 500$ value.

Been cruising as Club VIP ( Free drinks no 5% fee over 20yrs ) since Sara Hecker was with club Royal
I won’t be prime next cruise. Sad

So if the host gave you a free inside, doesn't that mean you accumulated at least 2500 points on that cruise? I have friends that play tables and they never get near as many points as I do playing slots. Club Royale has given me different answers so many times. The host actually gave me my total for the year while on the ship, which Club Royale said they weren't able to see.

They like to keep us in Limbo!

I feel your pain, and I'll share what I did.

Hit my 2500 on the last afternoon of our December cruise. Went and saw host and asked him to verify my points. He took my card and went to his office. Came back and said I had 2520 and put a Prime sticker on my card good for rest of cruise. 👍

What website is this?  I looked at the offer website but don't see a place to see the status.

On my last cruise I took a picture of the total points on my phone that showed my name on it as well so I could "make sure" as I trust a RCI computer as far as I can toss it.

I said that to all the Casino Reps I talked to over the last couple weeks.  I said its pretty sad that the day has come that we have to take pictures on a friggan slot machine to prove our point total.  The good ole days of taking the word of a loyal customer are gone I guess.

If I hadnt followed up a couple times with the casino host the last day of sailing than shame on me.  I ALWAYS check before I play my "free" point equivalent the last day so I know I am good.

Contemplating the 4 day Tampa cruise 3/26 just to get it done but I really hate giving in to this. I have exhausted all of my thoughts of them helping me be whole in this situation.

If anybody has run into this before or if anybody has any advice I would love to hear you chime in.  Dan

Are you sure about your point total? How did you get a free inside without earning 2400 points? I ask because you say you were up. The only time I have heard about certificates being upgraded is when someone has lost quite a bit more than expected for their amount of play.

Same thing happened to me although we a different outcome. After my explanation that i actually hit 2500, they contacted the host on my last sailing to verify onboard. They verified that I did hit 2500. My new rule of thumb is to exceed the threshold by quite a few points to cover my bases.

Yeah, the "new and improved" Casino Royale does not live up to its name.  We're Prime and  instead of enjoying the level, we can only book ONE cruise at a time with the discounted rate and of course we only maintain the level if we cruise within a year.  So much for advance planning.  On our last cruise, we got our casino certificates the 6th night of the 7 day cruise. I made sure to find the host the last night as we were leaving to get updated certificates.  Our offer changed by about $300.  Used to be a great program - now...not so much.  Sorry for your situation OP, that really does stink that they wouldn't step up for you.

Last year DH was bilked out of over 3000 points! These were earned on one sailing and I forwarded photos from a slot machine showing points earned including date. I even sent a scanned copy of the free cruise earned on that sailing proving he had over 2400 points. After endless promises to add them, March 31 arrived without any action. Extremely poor service. 😠

In a time where Coronavirus, hurricanes, an economy on a bubble, people jumping off ships, and an industry spending lots of money on new ships you would think they would not want to bite off the hand that feeds them.

I own my own business and word of mouth and your dedicated clientele are what decide the future of your company.

If Mr. Bayley knew this segment of the company is doing so much damage to counteract all the fires they are putting out on other fronts I am sure he would find a way to get 8 points to a loyal customer to right a wrong.

They have screwed us around this past year also. We cruise a lot 20-25 cruises a year. So we don't have to gamble a lot on any one cruise. After fighting with them numerous times about totals. I gave up the quest to make Signature for my wife. She has 19,000+ points with 3 weeks of cruises to go, before March 31. I have 9,000 points so far. I get 10 times the offers she gets. We both play mainly slots, plus a little lower stakes table games.

After April first we are going to do it right. We are on a 12 nighter in the spring. and a 12 nighter in the fall. This should be enough for both of us to get to prime. For the other 20 or so cruises. The casino is going to be off limits for us. We plan to end the year with 2600 points or so each.

The $ off certificates are almost useless, because you can't use them on the cheaper group bookings. The Club Royale Offers are rarely a bargain. They give you $150 off but the cruise is double what you can book it for elsewhere.

Leaving Sunday for 2 weeks. Don't plan on playing except for the Blackjack tournament.

Good Luck RT.  Your philosophy sounds spot on.  Get to prime, get your free cruise each and go into the casino to grab your drinks a needed.  I am sure you feel my pain being screwed and being only 8 points short on top of it. Its killing me.

Next cruise explain it all to the Host or Hostess, butter them up, be nice, you know flies > honey, and they im sure will give you your prime status! 👍

I had one cruise about 6 months ago . That I earned 813 points on. They gave me one of those worthless certificates with no name, ship or sail date on it. My wife had a $400 off certificate. So I figured I'd combine them and take a 4 or a 5 night cruise. I called they told me I had only earned a $100 off certificate. That my total points for that cruise was 799. I complained and the person on the phone told me they would flag it for a "review", But it would take about 2 weeks. In 2 weeks I called back and was told there was no record of the call. And that they would submit it for a review, that would take up to 7 days. There were only 30 days to book the cruise using the certificate. On day 29 I called back settling on using the $100 certificate. I told the person on the phone what had gone on. She said she was going to put me on hold for about 5 minutes. When she came back she had the $200 certificate to apply. Not 2 weeks not 7 days. But 5 minutes.
