Switching Ships after Final Payment

We are booked on the Allure in May from Barcelona and have 3 days in Italy.

We have already made our Final Payment.

Has anyone had experience switching to another RCCL ship?

Is this possible?

We are looking at Harmony or Symphony around the same date.

99% of the time they will make you cancel one cruise and pay all associated penalties and then you can book the other ship.

That's one of those things that will be a case by case basis.  With Coronavirus, Royal MIGHT be a bit more lenient on their policies.  Technically the answer is no, but if you really want to, give them a call and ask.  You'll need to get to resolutions and likely keep pushing.  I'd put your chances at better than 50% in your favor considering the current situation.  

 

Under normal circumstances, they'd make you cancel and pay the penalties.

The one time I tried, I succeeded. 

 

I called the D+ desk and requested to be switched from Oasis to Allure, which was sailing the next day from the same port.  It was when they turned the Viking Crown Lounge into a suites only area.  I gave them a multitude of reasons why that change disappointed me.  The D+ rep understood and after she spoke to her supervisor, I was switched to Allure.  I should mention I was denied on the first try, I waited a day and succeeded on the second go.
