smokeybandit Posted March 12, 2020 #13 Share Posted March 12, 2020 (edited) So what is RC's response? Obviously they have to cancel all Grandeur cruises for the next few weeks. Edited March 12, 2020 by smokeybandit
Science52 Posted March 12, 2020 #14 Share Posted March 12, 2020 The governor closed the port of Baltimore and he closed all public schools in Maryland so most of the Catholic schools will also follow public schools

coaster Posted March 12, 2020 #17 Share Posted March 12, 2020 (edited) Sounds like Maryland's officials are being much more proactive and concerned for their citizens in their state compared to our officials in Florida. Kudos to them... Edited March 12, 2020 by coaster
Plum Happy Posted March 12, 2020 #18 Share Posted March 12, 2020 CLOSURE OF CRUISE TERMINAL AT PORT OF BALTIMORE: No passenger or crew member will be allowed to disembark at any terminal at the Port of Baltimore from any passenger vessel that has made a call at port outside of the United States since January 31, 2020. Read the executive order. The only exceptions to this order are the Carnival Pride and the RCL Grandeur of the Seas, which are due to return to port in the coming days, provided that no person on board such vessel has a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 or is under investigation for COVID-19. Except as necessary to perform a duty required by law, no person shall board any covered passenger vessel at any terminal or port facility in the ports and harbors of the state. Each owner of a terminal or port facility in the state that receives cargo vessels shall develop and implement procedures for screening and controlling the movement of crew members who desire to disembark from cargo vessels that have, since January 31, 2020, made a call at any port outside the United States. https://governor.maryland.gov/2020/03/12/governor-hogan-announces-major-actions-to-protect-public-health-limit-spread-of-covid-19-pandemic/ Executive Order:https://governor.maryland.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Prohibiting-Movement.pdf

He has my vote as POTUS 😉
nivrag4511 Posted March 13, 2020 #20 Share Posted March 13, 2020 It appears that the governor has made up my mind for me. I was scheduled to cruise on the Grandeur March 27th. I wasn't sure if I was going to go or cancel. It sure doesn't look like it is going to go at this time. The only problem is that it was a casino comp. So I'm out a free cruise.🤕
B-52 Posted March 13, 2020 #21 Share Posted March 13, 2020 FYI, cruise ships fly under a foreign country flag....not the USA. Only thing USA can do is close ports.Only control USA has. Also, I heard it mentioned last night during and after the Presidents speech, as to whether or not the USA should bail out the cruise ships along with airliners, etc. Cruise ships are not USA companies.
BND Posted March 13, 2020 #22 Share Posted March 13, 2020 Carnival has already announced 100% FCC and $600 per cabin OBC for this upcoming cruise that was supposed to leave on Sunday. That's more than generous considering it's not in their control at all.

Not entirely true. RCI is headquartered in Miami, but it's ships are flagged elsewhere.
