ctbjr1309 Posted March 14, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2020 Effective yesterday, the BVI banned cruise ships for the next 30 days: https://viconsortium.com/vi-coronavirus/virgin-islands-bvi-bans-cruise-ships-for-next-30-days-tightens-borders-in-response-to-coronavirus-pandemic. Will be interesting to see how this affects SeaDream's itineraries. The latest update on the SD website is dated March 8 so it appears that they haven't addressed this publicly yet. If anybody is booked on an affected voyage, please let us know what you learn.

We have a booking supposed to head out from Marigot to Marigot on April 5th. No Jost Van Dyke, but we are scheduled to go to the Baths area on Virgin Gorda. I called SeaDream office a minute ago, and the person on the phone said they had not been told by anyone that any itinerary changes had been made yet, or were required yet. She thought it may be that because of the small number of passengers, SeaDream might be exempted, but it may be that they had just not been contacted by the port authorities yet. She did mention that the SeaDream 2 dry dock had been pushed back to October. I am sure everything is in question at this time, and probably will be for while. So I just keep checking every day. Meanwhile, I am nervous as a cat that we will get cancelled at the last minute.
mcpepe Posted March 14, 2020 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2020 All the major lines plus many smaller lines are cancelling cruises. I'm waiting for Seadream to do the same.
JES4845 Posted March 14, 2020 #5 Share Posted March 14, 2020 This is a real conundrum for SD and for each of us as travelers on SD or any other company (air, land and sea). Can they afford to cancel or rearrange cruises? Can they afford not to? What are the realistic, prudent, practical choices for them and for us? Open to input and more informed suggestions. At this point everyone has to make their own decisions based on the best information available at the time and their own risk tolerances (health, financial, etc.).
