The whole concept is to slow it down not speed it up. Under your model many more people will die because there is not one hospital system on this planet that will cope with the 20% needing hospital support.

grandgeezer - exactly said.

Full refund and handling fee - nothing more or less. Did not receive the product contracted = refund.

The FCC is a scam.

Yes, it is.  Cruise lines know this will be a long term challenge.  Won't go away by Summer, or even Spring.

FCC is easy for them to cancel or not extend.  Watch...

Apart from being three days late - and totally irrelevant as the situation changes hourly, this is proof of nothing except some people take this far too seriously. All it is is numbers and proves nothing.

Don't bother to reply as I actually don't care!

By now it is patently obvious that cruises in Europe cannot happen as advertised in April or probably May. Most of the ports are closed to tourists, the countries are on lockdown, and all major countries of the world have told their citizens to stay off cruise ships and away from many European countries. For countries with socialized medicine, they have added the power of denying insurance coverage to citizens who go against these "advisories."

Meanwhile, Celebrity says its April and May cruises in Europe (and TAs) are still going as scheduled. Really? How?

So we passengers are caught in a game of chicken. If we take the CWC option, we get 100% FCC. But if they cancel, we get 25% more FCC or the option of a refund. That's a big difference, especially if FCC is of no use to you for whatever reason. At least $1000, and likely more.

I understand Celebrity is probably trying hard to figure out exactly how far out to cancel. Fine. But if it would be useful to know how many people actually intend to sail on a given date before making those decisions, why not make the cancellation offer retroactive? Then people like us (and many on our Roll Call) can go ahead and cancel and they'll know for sure what would be the capacity were they to go ahead. Failing that, make the call, please. It's less than four weeks away!

Respectfully, a loyal US-based Celebrity cruiser who is anxiously waiting for the day when the European market is open to cruising again.

these are such strange times.....cant they be realistic, cancel the sailings and let people plan ahead.  I would think they would gain more respect or loyalty

X is uping the chicken game with Alaska cruises by saying they are looking into  itinerary options. I want a refund but I don't want them to decide my Alaskan cruise is now for an example a Caribbean cruise. Under our contract they can do that.

Right now X wants cash I don't think they are concerned about keeping customer loyalty.

I hear ya.....it took a long time to decide what ship and what itinerary I wanted, along with the departure city.  I DONT want a change in itinerary.....what are they going to offer me in that area?  san diego? seattle etc?  they should just come clean and state those cruises are going to be cancelled

Before you decide on the FCC of 125%, be sure you would be considered “fit to sail”.   It’s safe to say that those with underlying health conditions should not take a FCC especially if their condition is not likely to resolve.   Anyone frail should definitely not sail this year.   The population of passengers who regularly cruise may well change and the cruise lines will need to find new passengers.

I actually got a response from a Heather Carter today about our upcoming Celebrity Edge trip:.

I quote:

‘At this time the sailing of C Edge on April 19th is scheduled to disembark in Rome on May 4th’

Really?? Who wants to land in Italy, a few weeks after the current  travel ban & actual  lockdown of Italy assuming they’re not extended. If we land in Italy we will be red tagged for future travel! Who wants that? No thanks!

Celebrity has been veeeerry slow to respond to multiple calls & emails over the last week:( asking if they will at least consider alternate ports. This so far was their response!

Mine was: Not Landing in Italy!
I’ll was planning to take a 125% credit or full refund! But since I don’t trust them by reading about jacking prices for next year, I’ll take the refund!

This is what happened to us during the swine flu epidemic. Supposed to do a 7 day Mexican Riviera, but got 7 day Pacific Northwest.
