naturelovergirl Posted September 22, 2022 #2926 Share Posted September 22, 2022 Here is a lovely sunset view from St Andrews State Park tonight in the Panhandle of Florida. Enjoyed riding our bicycles from our RV site to the Gulf of Mexico side of the park.
Host Hattie Posted September 22, 2022 Author #2927 Share Posted September 22, 2022 We're at our hotel for the evening, we've had an upgrade apparently! It's a lovely big room so I can believe it.
techteach Posted September 22, 2022 #2928 Share Posted September 22, 2022 @Host Hattie What a darling room! Can you share the name of the hotel? Enjoy. You aren’t allowed to think about work.
Host Hattie Posted September 22, 2022 Author #2929 Share Posted September 22, 2022 Of course it's the Montagu Arms, we've stayed here 3 times pre-cruise. https://www.montaguarmshotel.co.uk/ They do a Cruise parking package and it's a lovely spot. We've been in 3 different rooms and they've all been very comfortable. I'm slightly worried that the step up to the toilet could be a problem during the night though !
techteach Posted September 23, 2022 #2930 Share Posted September 23, 2022 That looks wonderful. I wish I had known about it before we booked the Harbour Hotel for December. I just informed DH that I know where we’ll be staying for our next cruise from Southampton! Enjoy, and please let me know about the food.
Host Hattie Posted September 23, 2022 Author #2931 Share Posted September 23, 2022 It's a little way out of Southampton but the food was excellent. We always eaten at Monty's Inn for dinner but the Terrace restaurant looks lovely as well.
techteach Posted September 23, 2022 #2932 Share Posted September 23, 2022 First time I’ve seen an age restriction on a restaurant. No one under age 12. BTW - I learned a little about Welsh Ponies yesterday. Too cute!

Bigmike911 Posted September 28, 2022 #2935 Share Posted September 28, 2022 I hope that our contributors in Florida will be o.k. with the onshoring of Hurricane Ian. The west coast of Florida looks like it is going to take a pounding. Good luck and God Speed all.

Tonopah Posted September 28, 2022 #2937 Share Posted September 28, 2022 Thank you all for your kind thoughts. We are doing well at the Tonopah Ranch. Heavy rain and gusty wind but nothing serious where we are. We haven’t even lost power. We shall see what the rest of the day and tomorrow brings.

naturelovergirl Posted September 29, 2022 #2940 Share Posted September 29, 2022 We did pretty well in the hurricane… truly massive rains in our area. There was quite a lot of flooding from the dumping of rain around Central Florida…. Of course since Orlando is inland, it is nothing like the storm surge and category 4 damage seen on the coast. Luckily our home has good drainage being on high ground. So we have no water accumulation issues. Many of our friends were not so lucky. As expected we have many branches down in the yard. We have one fence post which broke, so two panels went down. Very minimal. Plus we have power. Grateful.
navybankerteacher Posted October 1, 2022 #2941 Share Posted October 1, 2022 The causeway bridge to Sanibel Island, FL (where we spend March) is down - which will temporarily limit recovery from the storm surge damage - trying to get on-ground updates. Right now at a family wedding in south Texas - still Summer-hot.
runnerswife Posted October 1, 2022 #2942 Share Posted October 1, 2022 While not a regular contributor to Cunard blog, we have sailed several Cunard ships. In response to the Sanibel Island bridge - the bridge has been destroyed in 4 different places. It will be a long long time before anyone can get to the isalnd unless by boat or air. Coast Guard has been air lifting people that stayed (although begged to leave). Anyway, there are websites you can go to to update. SW Florida has been Decimated. We live in Naples and are very blessed that our little community did not flood and we were never without power.. Our hearts go out to all the people who lost everything. Please keep all of Florida in your prayers. Mary & Bill
Host Hattie Posted October 8, 2022 Author #2943 Share Posted October 8, 2022 We're home, it's a lovely sunny day here so the first loads of holiday washing are drying in the garden and I'm sitting in the sun with Biggles on my lap. He behaved himself for his cat sitters but he seems pleased to have us home.
techteach Posted October 8, 2022 #2944 Share Posted October 8, 2022 @Host Hattie How about a selfie of Biggles in your lap? The sun is just coming up, super hazy from smoke from a forest fire. We have an air quality alert through the weekend.

Lanky Lad Posted October 8, 2022 #2947 Share Posted October 8, 2022 Welcome home HH. I had a nice surprise today. I was getting ready for my QV trip at the end of the month and found a bag with 33 Euros in it. 7
techteach Posted October 9, 2022 #2948 Share Posted October 9, 2022 Dear Canadian Cunarders, I’m sorry your Blue Jays lost. They are a fine team. But I’m “gladder” we won. Our drought has ended. Finally. Especially to our friends in British Columbia, please root for us against Houston. Prayers are welcomed and appreciated. For those in other countries, this is baseball play off season. Go Mariners!

techteach Posted October 10, 2022 #2950 Share Posted October 10, 2022 @Jujuonboard The World Series is a long way off. We have to get through Houston. It would be fun to play Atlanta in any series.
