Yes, I know how serious this virus is, my sister is a doctor. She is a specialist with her own clinic and on staff at two hospitals. Her specialty? She is an ID doctor..yes doctor of infectious diseases. I will adhere to her suggestions. I am still going to hope for the best. It's all any of us can do. Did you know that more people have contracted the common flu more often than Covid-19, and more people die from it? I am sorry that you seem to think my post was directed at you personally, it was not. It is just that a certain minority on these forums seem to think that this virus will blow over in a few weeks and normal service will be resumed. As for the common flu, yes well aware of the facts, this is not the same, 919 people died yesterday in Italy from covid 19 you will not find those sort of figures for the common flu. If you like facts then on current information the mortality rate for covid 19 is 4.5% which makes it 45 more times deadlier than the flu.Pretty scarey huh. Next you are going to say 35,000 people in car accidents in the US should we stop driving. One has nothing to do with the other, absolutely nothing. Do you know how easily this is spread? The rate of spread is 3 to 4 times highers than the dam flu. This is NOT the flu. Wow...please go back and read the title you applied to this thread. Were you not trying to bring some brightness to this current Pandemic situation? A little hope goes a long way. And once again, thank you...but I will listen to my sister...a professional...a specialist on the situation. An infectious disease doctor, of whom is consulted by our government. What is your field of expertise? And yes, I am fully prepared (and actually expect it to happen) that my next two cruises will be cancelled. Until then... Since you quoted me...I am safe to guess your comment was directed at me. I assumed the OP posted this thread to give people hope. Maybe that was wrong? Did I post in the wrong thread, maybe I should find the gloom and doom thread? Yes, I know this could go on and on...and so goes the fear of most of us. Let us just hope it does not for all of us concerned. I will still continue to listen to the professionals (easy for me to do), and can still have hope at the same time. Pretty hard to know mortality rate when you have no idea how many people are, or have been, infected.

No we don't know but one thing we do know is it spreads extremely easy. That is why we are in shelter in place orders. It spreads too easy and has a long incubation period. Scary stuff. Actually 5-12 days, not very out of line for viral infections and shorter than for many.

Maybe, but this spreads much easier than the "regular flu". This why this is such a pain in the @ss virus. I'm not gloom and doom, I think ships will be sailing safely much earlier than most here but we have some hard work and unfortunately pain for a while here. Ok, I'm depressed again just typing that. Glad to see a hopeful post - I’ve read enough doom and gloom. This is not the forum for medical debates. I’m sure they’re out there for those that want to have their say but this website is about cruising. 😊🚢 🌴

James, spend a little more time thinking about sitting out on your balcony with a glass of wine looking at the lights of Central Park with the music playing and people strolling. You will feel better.🙂

I have a real cruise question for my cruise thread. 😁 My invoice I just noticed for my rebooked cruise says [Booking status: offer]. I assume that means because we are waiting on the FCC to be issued and then the booking status will change? Any ideas?

JAMESCC Posted March 28, 2020 Author #65 Share Posted March 28, 2020 TA did say disregard deposit due date as Royal will extend the date to allow for FCC to be issued so that makes sense, thanks.
