steveweese Posted April 9, 2020 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2020 Looking at booking a Neptune suite on a Panama Canal cruise on Zaandam. What is the expanded menu for breakfast etc. Club Orange... how does it work. Are the extra entrees worth it. What will we love in the Neptune Lounge? Thanks in advance. On the Zaandam, Neptune Suites have breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill. There is no dedicated location for Club Orange as on the Pinnacle Class ships. You will still receive one additional entree option at dinner but you will be seated in the MDR. Since you are in a Neptune Suite, you have the Club Orange benefits as far as the dining goes. CruiserBruce Posted April 9, 2020 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2020 Not sure how we will know what you will love, as we don't know you. There are many threads here on the perks of a Neptune Suite, and the HAL website has a description. You may like the free laundry (big selling point for us, as our cruises are always longer than 14 days). You may like the excellent service found in the Neptune Lounge. As Club Orange benefits come with the Neptune Suite, not sure how to determine "worth" for the extra entree.
Krazy Kruizers Posted April 9, 2020 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2020 Club Orange is included in your cruise fare. As to the Neptune Lounge -- it is open from 7 AM until 8 or 8:30 Pm. In the morning there is a continental breakfast -- lots of fruit, cheeses, meats, pastries, cold cereals, a toaster to make your own bagels, toast, English muffins and a wonderful coffee machine where you can get lattes, capaccinos, etc. Around 10:30 a couple of workers start to remove the breakfast items and replace them with 3 or 4 kinds of tea sandwiches and wraps, various other cold items, cookies, chocolates, etc. They keep replenishing everything until around 3 PM when they will also add pound cake (on most ships). Around 5 PM cold appetizers are put out like crudites and on the side bar you should find salsa and chips. There is a bar where you can make your own cocktails -- not free. There are 2 concierges who can make dinner reservations for you, book shore excursions, spa, they can just about do anything for you.

We were in a Neptune Suite on the Zaandam last December/January. I never utilized the additional item(s) offered under the Club Orange menu. The regular menu was fine. The benefits of Club Orange is not the attraction if you are in a NS. As others have pointed out, it is the free laundry, the wonderful concierges in the Neptune Lounge, the continual supply of food in the Lounge throughout the day, and the expanded cabin and balcony. Forget Club Orange if you have a NS.
steveweese Posted April 9, 2020 Author #6 Share Posted April 9, 2020 Thanks for your thoughts. I wondered if the extra entree was something special or is it like a drumstick or grilled cheese lol.

If it had been a grilled cheese, I would have taken it!
