By the way I DID make personal contact unmasked with a family friend more than a month after she became asymptomatic of this horrible illness. It’s not leprosy (forever contagious) but if you are hospitalized you don’t get visitors PERIOD. The hospital was here in New Port Richey FL. My friend came down with it earlier in the year, before they started locking down hospitals and Assisted Living Facilities. She had difficulty breathing and it did go to pneumonia. They did not put her on a ventilator, Thank God. She has several health problems but she survived it and now is in excellent health.

I do not believe that a hospital would allow visitors, other than maybe parents of a minor child, to visit a person hospitalized with covid-19. Way to spread the virus. Who would sit in the same room, other than a caregiver, with a person who is contagious? I think it's a troll post. This person created an account on CC to make that post. I'm not a troll. I started cruising when I moved to Florida in 2000. I've been reviewing cruises on this site for years but just signed up to let my thoughts about masks on cruise ships be heard. Also, I have many youtube reviews on past cruises. You will find my reviews of Norwegian Sky, Norwegian Sun and Celebrity Infinity to name the last 3 ships I sailed on. You are right. Why should I spend thousands of dollars to sit in a restaurant, pool, hot tub or theatre wearing a mask. I'll vacation elsewhere. I'm just hoping the cruise lines don't get all crazy over this mask thing. If they want their workers to wear masks fine but not the customers.

Here is the specific quote from their website: The changes take effect Saturday, March 21. Only in certain, specific instances, will visitors be allowed into facilities. https://baycare.org/newsroom/2020/march/visitation-at-baycare-hospitals-closed-in-response-to-covid19 Sounds like your friend was sick well before this as my state was stay-home mandates on 3/21. If you added the context of friend had Coronavirus in Jan/Feb, somehow got an early test, and hospital was stupid in allowing visitors to highly contagious patients....I still don’t believe. Take a look at NYC or if you were there or surrounded by people from the city and you might have a different approach regarding masks..don’t get me wrong I’m not cruising till they have a good treatment , my choice but at the end of the day Appropriate risk management couple with geography and data rule Pasco has done very good. We have over a half million people in my county (Pasco) and most are elderly. I think NYC had multiple issues which made things worse, like sticking the covid-19 people in nursing homes. I feel everyone has a right to do what they think is best. I chose not to wear a mask. If others want to wear it, good for them.

Organized Chaos Posted June 1, 2020 #285 Share Posted June 1, 2020 To those of you who have made it clear that you will not be cruising anytime soon, many saying not until there's a viable treatment or a vaccine, why are you hear telling those of us who are willing to cruise what you think we should do on those cruises? None of you will be exposed to anyone not wearing a mask because you won't be there, so maybe you shouldn't be telling others what you think they should be doing. 32 minutes ago, skridge said: I don't understand how someone becomes a militant anti masker. That's funny, because the only people I've seen who become infuriated over masks are the ones who insist everyone wear one. Did you see the news broadcast of the anchor in the studio and the reporter on location in Wisconsin insulting everyone enjoying the outdoors on Memorial Day weekend because they weren't wearing masks? Then the gentleman standing nearby pointed out, on camera, that the cameraman himself, along with half the news crew, weren't wearing masks. Oops...quickly cut back to the studio. How about the video of the woman in a store who wasn't wearing a mask and was surrounded by an angry mob who were screaming at her and berating her and forced her to leave. How about the people on this very forum who attack & insult anyone who doesn't conform to their views. The only "militants" I see are the ones forcing their mask-wearing views on everyone else.
geckoaz Posted June 1, 2020 Author #286 Share Posted June 1, 2020 Gene DellaSala told 8 On Your Side he’s lost count, but the health department has tested him for COVID-19 at least 10 times. The 46-year-old was the first person from Pasco County to test positive back on March 10.

geckoaz Posted June 1, 2020 Author #288 Share Posted June 1, 2020 Funny. Cruising was thought of as lazy old folks vacation and now it is the riskiest adventure of all. Next year maybe we will climb mt everest..something less risky. But i will probably need a mask. 1 1

First of all, if it were as simple as you make it I wouldn't care. I really wish that people not wearing masks didn't effect me because I don't think I would care if they got the virus. Unfortunately when you get the virus and see me in a grocery store without your mask on you could spread it to me. I have not berated anyone. What I have done is try to express to people that choose not to wear masks in public that it does effect me. Also when a big outbreak happens on a cruise ship it effects me and everyone that works in the hospitals that have to treat you.

Roger88 Posted June 5, 2020 #292 Share Posted June 5, 2020 I dont mind wearing a mask on board but this is not exactly what I was going to cruise for. I dont want to be limited in any way. Just like I dont want the buffet to go away or elevator to stop working etc. When I cruise I want to escape from the on shore problems, not to take it with me... and pay money for it. So I hope it will not be mandatory in a long run 5
jakeT Posted June 6, 2020 #293 Share Posted June 6, 2020 Regardless, cruise ships are not set up for separating guests From each other. Elevators are always packed at show, dinner, time. Dinning rooms pack the people in. Shows, clubs ect. unless they limit number of guest on the ship, and not make any money, it’s really isn’t going to matter if you are wearing a face mask or not. If someone on a packed ship is sick they are going to spread the virus. The cruise lines always were playing games. To abuse there workers. Ships are registered in foreign country’s, ship have to make a stop in foreign port. Ect. Then they want the US to bail them out. The foreign country where they are registered should bail them out. The only reason why Disney and Universal are requiring them is because the unions demanded them. No unions with cruise lines. The masks are pointless anyway and deep down everyone knows it. Small clarification: there are no unions at Universal. So, they have the mask policy out of sheer safety and concern for the guests and team members. geckoaz Posted June 7, 2020 Author #299 Share Posted June 7, 2020 (edited) I watched a youtube video about the reopening of las vegas hotels and casinos. A few observations 1. Sanitary seals on doors letting you know room cleaned. 2. Each room (mgm) had guest pack including an mgm face mask, finger key to punch elevators no more having to use elbows, hand saniizer and a stylus pen for phone. Masks were available for free in lobby. 3. Masks in elevator unless your whole group were only ones in elevator but masks up as door open. 4. People were not wearing masks by choice. 5. No masks in pool. Hotels at lower occupancy. Wonder if this is future of cruising. Edited June 7, 2020 by geckoaz
