Refund Roll Call

Hello all.  So good to see the valve is open at Seabourn.  

I appreciate all who have made  contributions to this thread.  I think we got out of it what we wanted...a sense of how fast/slow the refunds were processed and a sense of camaraderie for those of us  waiting. As such, I will not be adding any new cruises to the list. I will finish posting any refunds for the next few days.  it looks like we have 16 open cruises from 14 different posters.  I imagine some of them may have been refunded and the poster just has not gotten back to us.  Oh well...

As mentioned, I will be heading to the beach for two weeks and leaving this all behind.   Here it the latest:

I was not a part of the refund roll call as I had terrible trouble logging in. But it's fixed and I'm glad to say I received my refund on June 12. Posted to my amex on June 18th. My May 2 cruise was canceled and I requested a refund on March 31st. 72 days. But I'm so happy!! good luck to the ones waiting....it shouldn't be long now!

Well after day 100, Seabourne finally refunded our credit for our cruise but not for the port charges & fees, still to come I guess.

We'll just have to wait a bit longer.   Thanks so much JPH814 for keeping this going.  Have a great vacation.

When I spoke to a supervisor about 2 weeks ago, she said withing two weeks I I would be getting a refund of a little more than $6400 for the 43% of the March 8 - March 22 Australia cruise we missed [6 out of 14 days] on account of having to disembark early in Adelaide and not end the cruise in Sydney as planned. 

 

NOTE:  This side issue is not listed on the spread sheet

 

Yes, I got something this weekend refunded to my Amex card, but it did take about 3 months to get the refund

 

The credit on my Amex was for $2642.32, with the transaction annotated on the statement as follows:

I have NO idea what the amount refunded represents.  My travel agent will call them today and try to figure this out.

 

Still waiting for the deposits to be refunded for the July and October cruises that were cancelled by Seabourn, as well as the acknowledgement for the extra expenses we incurred because of having to leave the ship early in Australia, which Seabourn said it would cover.

 

We were told that for the 2 cancelled cruises, Seabourn would be refunding our future cruise deposits as well, but we would still be eligible for 5% off 2 future cruises.

 

I love sailing on Seabourn, and looking forward to future adventures, but I am getting a little peeved here.

Did not post previously for this roll call but am happy to report that we got our refund in about 60 days from time of cancellation notice in mid April for our cruise that was supposed to leave Reykjavik tomorrow.  It went back to the two credit cards we used. There was an especially large amount on one of the cards and we were able to get it transferred to a bank account (different bank than the CC company), that took less than a week. Since we had applied our FCC to this trip i wonder if we can reinstate it if someday ever comes. 

 

Next project is trip insurance refund. Since there was no insurable event and they didn't have to cover any losses...    I have heard that Allianz and World Nomads were providing full refunds though we used a different vendor which may require forfeiting a pro rated amount for the period before the cancellation when the policy was still active.

Our Trip Insurance for our two cancelled trips did not refund us, but credited us so we could use the trip insurance toward a future trip....And, we have two years to use the funds. We already booked a cruise for Nov 2021 and used all the credits towards Insurance on that trip.....

Yes, we were offered that option and decided that it wouldn't work for us. Just interesting to see how different companies in the same industry approach things.

My TA said they would not refund us when I asked 😢.  But, both of our cruises were only in the deposit stages so the insurance cost was relatively minimal.  I only insure the actual amount I have paid out,  then I up the insurance amount at each stage of payment and pay the updated dollars for the updated trip payment.

We asked the insurer directly.  Our TA alerted us that we'd hear from them to formally agree to the credit but they contacted us directly and we asked. (I'm of the "it never hurts to ask" school of thought.)

We usually don't insure until final payment, deposits/early penalties are usually covered by credit card travel coverage or are refundable. We still lost a few hundred $ but i hope that means my TA keeps her commission. If I hear otherwise i will challenge the insurance company to make her whole.

We just learned that Seabourn has issued a refund for our 5/2 cruise.   We requested the refund on 4/13.   It was credited to our credit card, and we've asked to have the funds transferred to our bank account.

I should add, this sounds like a great strategy if a pre-existing condition is a factor. In those cases I understand that early insurance, right after booking, will offer protection.

Yes, Allianz was doing that. Unfortunately we used a different vendor.

JOZI - EXACTLY why we do that.  I get the ins right away at the lowest amount, but within that 15 day timeframe for the pre-existing!

It appears that Seabourn can still process a routine cancellation that is initiated by the guest quite quickly.   On June 17 we cancelled a 2021 cruise on which we had only made a deposit.  Seabourn processed the refund the next day and the credit was posted to AMEX on June 22.  We also had FCDs on that booking and we requested they be returned to our account.  Done!  That turnaround is what I'd expect in "normal" times and is certainly much better than the prolonged delay for refunds on fully-paid covid sailings that Seabourn was forced to cancel.

I feel bad I did not update my status earlier, but my husband checks our credit card balances daily and I asked him to let me know when our refunds posted.  Of course, he neglected to tell me that both our refunds had posted on May 29th, for our September and December cruises -  around 60 days from my cancellation of these cruises, so I consider myself lucky.  My fault for relying on him rather than also checking myself, but after 37 years of marriage I tend to assume we share one mind.

The Seabourn cruise I booked was scheduled to depart Singapore on 22nd March ,was diverted to Perth Western Australia and was then cancelled on the 14th March . I selected the option of refund on the 15th March and still await receipt of that refund.

I had a cruise booked with Seabourn for 29 April the last segment of the world cruise. Seabourn cancelled we submitted a form on 31 March but according to Seabourn it was not registered until 18 April. 

 

Good news, I received the refund to our credit cards today. This included the FCC.
