Same Room, Different Reservation Numbers

Recommended Posts

There will be 5 of us in a 2 bedroom Grand Suite on Harmony of the Seas.  When I initially booked it, there were only 3 of us.  My younger son and his wife decided to join us, so I had my travel agent add them on.   Whenever I tried to book something (such as a drink package, specialty restaurant, etc), my younger son didn't show up.  It would only show 4 of us.  I contacted my travel agent, and she said that Royal Caribbean's booking system is weird and can only show 4 people under one reservation number even if the room we are in can hold more than 4.  She told me to use his reservation number to use an "add another reservation" option.  Does this sound right?

yes, it is totally right.  Only 4 people per reservation, extras in the cabin will have a separate res number, but they are all linked together.  And yes, just use the "add another reservation" option to purchase stuff

Thank you for confirming this.

Your son will just have a different boarding pass.  And with these ships you will typically have separate passes for each person anyway.  Would recommend you set up a separate login on the Royal website (and the app) for each person but especially the separate reservation.  Once you have linked in another cabin/reservation for one dining, shore excursion or show they second reservation will always show up when you are booking the next thing but it is nice to be able to modify these from different phones.

I have this irrational fear that we'll get there, and they won't let my son on the ship due to not having a reservation.   It helps to know others have to do this too

Your son has a reservation number, its just different that yours and he will have a boarding pass.  There are cabins on nearly every ship that hold more than 4 where people have multiple reservations.  People board every sailing under the same circumstances as you without any issues.  Enjoy your vacation.

I am just curious, if there are two different reservation numbers for a cabin and someone buys a drink package, would they also catch the second reservation in the cabin and make those folks buy also?

When I went to go pay for my oldest son's drink package (he is on the reservation number with 4 people), I only paid for his. I didn't have to buy one for anyone else on that reservation number or the other reservation number.

Your son has a reservation -- it's just a different number than the one all the other family members are on.

Ask your travel agent to send you the Booking Confirmation from Royal Caribbean for both reservation numbers.  This is basically the invoice that shows who is traveling, what room they're in, what dining assignment they have, and how much you're paying for them.

I always check the Royal Caribbean Booking Confirmation for accuracy, rather than any invoice that the travel agent may send me, because the Royal Caribbean one is what will be in their system -- anything on the TA's letterhead just shows me what is in the TA's system, and it may not be the same as what is on the RC system.

Thank you. I got it.  It does show him in the same room number as we have.
