Italy52 Posted June 19, 2020 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2020 We have never had a Princess cruise cancelled until this year so we have no idea on how the process works. We had two cruises cancelled and we chose Option 1 for refund processing. Both cruises were paid in full. My question is this: Princess gives us FCC for our cruise fare. We then select another cruise and apply those funds. If Princess cancels us again in 2021 for Covid (God forbid), can we get our FCCs refunded? I guess what I am ultimately asking is how many times can we reuse our FCC?
Rare Tak8 Posted June 19, 2020 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2020 That is a great question. My concern is Will Princess be sailing soon enough for everyone who has FCC to actually do their cruises. I also selected option 1 and have enough for two cruises. Can I get them in before May 1, 2021. Only time will tell.
cherylandtk Posted June 19, 2020 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2020 (edited) This is uncharted territory. In the past, if you had used FCC to book a cruise and YOU cancelled, the FCCs were lost if they had reached their expiry date. There are a few threads on how this works here and in the Insurance forum. Now, with Princess cancelling it is different. There are a few documented statements from Princess stating the FCCs for your paid fare are refundable, but not for any bonus FCCs. I would think that if Princess cancels again, they might issue new FCCs with a yet later expiry. It’s anybody’s guess if they would include both paid and bonus FCCs under a re-issued FCC. loving goldens Posted June 19, 2020 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2020 I believe the Fcc dates were issued that they had to be used by May31 2022... pretty sure that is what our is and we just got ours this week from March 21..
Italy52 Posted June 19, 2020 Author #5 Share Posted June 19, 2020 Thanks everyone for your input, I appreciate it. Our Princess-cancelled cruises to Alaska were May and August 2020. When Princess cancelled our two Alaska cruises, we didn't know how long it would take for refunds. So, we rebooked the same cruises for 2021 using FCDs that we had on hand. Glad we did as our May 2021 cruise has already gone up $600. Once Princess settles our refunds, we will apply them to the 2021 booked cruises.
