ellie1145 Posted August 26, 2020 Author #1301 Share Posted August 26, 2020 (edited) 🎵 Red sails in the sunset Way out on the sea..... 🎵 (now that shows my age....) Standing on our balcony, watching as Majestic Princess sails away from our last port brings a lump to my throat. It has been, truly, the most wonderful experience in every aspect, and watching this beautiful island getting ever further away is a wrench. Now the reality hits that we are sailing home to Sydney, and I know it will feel really sad leaving this ship. But how lucky we are to have experienced such a great adventure, so my sadness is tempered by that thought. Hope you enjoy our final sailaway. Here are the first few Edited August 26, 2020 by ellie1145

ellie1145 Posted August 26, 2020 Author #1305 Share Posted August 26, 2020 (edited) Time to eat! Many apologies for the duplicates. I’m afraid I got in a bit of a muddle trying to download from my ipad, and my computer, so there are a few duplicates. 🥴 Anyway, after a spectacular sunset it’s time to for a quick swim in my private swimming pool, and then it’s dinner. But not at this table! DH and I both pass on a starter. DH opts for the Steamed Butterfish, whilst I try the Chicken and Leek Pot Pie. I promise I didn’t nibble the edge before taking the photo!😉 Is there any choice? Of course not, it HAS to be the Drambuie Soufflé! Mouthwatering! ellie1145 Posted August 26, 2020 Author #1307 Share Posted August 26, 2020 Halloween! After dinner we wander round the ship and see that preparations are already in hand for Halloween. That should be fun! We now have 2 sea days, so sit back and enjoy our final days. I won’t remind you that we will need to pack... that’s just too upsetting a thought. AF-1 Posted August 26, 2020 #1308 Share Posted August 26, 2020 ellie 1145; it will be sad to leave the ship after your cruise; but count your blessings that you got to make a trip such as this. There are so many people who will never experience what you did. Have a great day and yummy breakfast

Did you bring French francs with you or did you get cash there, or use a card? We wished we had purchased francs before we got there. There was a cash machine opposite the Terminal outside a supermarket but we didn’t try that. Thanks. We got a little at the exchange in the passenger terminal because my hubby collects currency as his souvenir of the countries we visit. We used our credit card in stores and at the aquarium but found that some of the vendors at the morning market accepted AUD.

We feel really lucky to have experienced this cruise, and withnthe way things are it may not be something we will ever do again. Fantastic photos, azbirdmon. It was a stunning sight, the cloud formations seemed to change minute by minute until a final burst of light. ellie1145 Posted August 27, 2020 Author #1315 Share Posted August 27, 2020 Good morning! A sea day.. We wake to a beautiful sunny morning but standing on the balcony it is clear that the sea is quite choppy. However, Majestic Princess remains completely stable and we don’t feel any movement. We have a long way to go and Majestic Princess is steaming full ahead. The distance from Noumea to Sydney is 1054 Nautical miles and we keep up an average speed of 18.3 knots. At noon today Majestic Princess will be 359 nautical miles from Lord Howe Island, the nearest land, and we have sailed 339 nautical miles (628 km) across the Coral Sea since leaving Noumea. The wind is South Easterly, force 5, and the temperature is 21C/70F with cloudy skies and sunny spells.
ellie1145 Posted August 27, 2020 Author #1316 Share Posted August 27, 2020 There is a lot going on today, but after our room service tea and fruit we make our way up to the Vista Gaming Lounge for our 10.15 Morning Trivia session, and find our favourite seats over by the window. This is the best place to be to play trivia as there is a large semi-circular sofa plus chairs so all six of us can put our heads together as we grapple with the questions. So while we are puzzling over Trivia, let me take you on a tour of the beautiful Piazza.

Rare azbirdmom Posted August 27, 2020 #1318 Share Posted August 27, 2020 (edited) We had a lazy day on board! We started off the day as we did most days having our suite breakfast in the Crown Grill. Here we are toasting with our mimosas. We spent quite a bit of time on the balcony, reading our books and watching the birds swoop around the ship. At one point during the day I stopped in the casino. My luck continued! This win was on an $0.88 bet (AUD). It was formal night and one of the wonderful things you get to do in a suite is order off the main dining room menu through room service. When we have been fortunate enough to sail in a suite, we tend to take advantage of this on formal night. We would normally eat outside on the balcony but it was a bit blustery. We did eat outside on the first formal night but I think I was in Florida when that part of the virtual cruise was happening so I didn't post any pictures. We did have to improvise having our meal inside given the small table but it worked just fine. We shared the pasta on the side as our appetizer by the way. It was all wonderful!
