julesbeara Posted September 1, 2020 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2020 Anyone know where passports are actually processed? I'm mailing an application to Irving, TX, and we live in Dallas (which is minutes from Irving, TX). How is the processing timeline these days? Weeks? Months? Dh mailed his to Philadelphia, as instructed, July 27th. Received it back within 3 weeks from Tuscon! Can't explain why it goes where it goes. They are processing new ones immediately and also catching up on the backlog separately.
Rare twangster Posted September 1, 2020 #3 Share Posted September 1, 2020 https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast/passport-agencies.html Depends where you live I think. Seems like different sites are in different phases of COVID response. Dallas is currently phase one: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast/passport-agencies/dallas.html
bigrednole Posted September 1, 2020 #4 Share Posted September 1, 2020 Just from my experience, I am in NC and thought ours would go to Philly. The mailing of everything had Arkansas stamped on it which was surprising. We got new passports and the total processing time was 5 months (March 26 - August 24th). The passport processing center in Tucson is located behind the SuperWalmart I drive by in my way to work. https://www.us-passport-service-guide.com/western-passport-center.htmlSent from my iPhone using Forums
clearlake_cruiser Posted September 1, 2020 #6 Share Posted September 1, 2020 According to a recent video, after initial receipt, the passport renewal applications are redistributed for processing without regard to applicant address. This would be consistent with what previous posts have said.
