Some of the Zuiderdam sailings for Fall 2021 through Spring 2022 are now bookable in the POLAR travel agent system - HOWEVER - they do not yet appear on the consumer website

Zuiderdam arrives FLL on 11/27 from Europe and has a 26 day "blank" in her schedule until 12/23 - assuming a trip to Freeport Drydock (11/12 days)  followed by a Westbound Panama Canal sailing (14/15 days).  Her last Drydock was Dec 2019, so the timing is right for another visit.

12/23/21 - 1/2/22  10 Day Sea of Cortez R/T SAN

Then a 56 day "blank" in her schedule from January 2nd to February 27th, which is just enough time for 4 Panama Canal Sailings of 14 Days each SAN-FLL, FLL-SAN, SAN-FLL, FLL-SAN.  This is not confirmed, but is logical given the loss of full Canal transits due to the Sale of the Rotterdam and redeployment of Zaandam.

2/27/22 - 4/3/222 35 Days Hawaii/South Pacific R/T SAN

4/3/22 - 4/13/22 10 Day Sea of Cortez R/T SAN

4/13/22 - 4/22/22 9 Day Sea of Cortez R/T SAN  -  also bookable as a 14 Day SAN-YVR itinerary (Sea of Cortez and Pacific Coastal)

This confirms she WILL NOT return to the Caribbean Sunfarer/Wayfarer (partial canal Transits) of the past few years, nor will she go to Tampa.  This also tees her up to go to Alaska for Summer 2022 along with Oosterdam, Noordam, Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam and Konigsdam.

I don't usually follow Alaska sailings, but 6 ships going to Alaska seems like a lot -- is that normal?

Yes there are typically 6, or more often 7.  2 for the North/South runs Between Vancouver and Seward (now Whittier), 2 Round-trip from Vancouver, 2 Round-trip Seattle and often one doing a 14 day either Round-trip Seattle or Vancouver (will not be back for 2021 and 2022 doubtful as well).

I predict Summer 2022 will see 6 ships in Alaska, 4 ships in Europe and 1 ship on CA/NE & VOV.  Europe will most likely be Nieuw Statendam, Rotterdam VII, Westerdam and Volendam with CA/NE & VOV remaining on Zaandam.  There is a chance they could change the schedules of either Eurodam or Nieuw Amsterdam and send one of them to Europe 2022 instead.  They both currently have April 2022 Panama Canals that go from FLL all the way to Vancouver (N.A.) or Seattle (E).  Time will tell!

I wonder what ship will take over the partial Canal transits?

These were always seemingly quite popular so I wouldn’t expect them to be eliminated.

Most likely Eurodam.  The fall 2021 to spring 2022 Caribbean itineraries (including the partial canal transits) has yet to be published, but I predict Rotterdam VII and Nieuw Amsterdam will do the 7nt E/W Caribbean, Nieuw Statendam will do the 10/11nt Southern Caribbean, and Eurodam on the 10/11nt partial canal sailings using the historic locks.

UPDATE!

As I anticipated (4) 14 day Panama Canal sailings have been added to Zuiderdam’s winter 2021-22 schedule : 1/2/22 SAN-FLL, 1/16/22 FLL-SAN, 1/30/22 SAN -FLL AND 2/13/22 FLL-SAN.

There is still a gap in her schedule between 11/27/21 to 12/23/21 (26 days). This would allow for a 11-12 day trip to Grand Bahama Shipyard for dry dock followed by a 14-15 night westbound Panama Canal from FLL-SAN.  When that gap is filled in Zuiderdams schedule will be complete.
