This doesn't make sense? @farmersfight after you've been around the NCL forum for a while I think you'll find that there are quite a few things that don't really make sense. For instance, "Pagers and handy phones" really don't work when you're away from the ship, however, if a couple has a spa day or want to visit Vibe or even the casino, they come in handy. IMO, and that's all it is, parents need to leave someone on the ship as a guardian. Simple as that. Cheers 1

But, here's another confusing part of the policy: You are not leaving an authorized pick up person on board and are leaving your children on board while you go into port. Makes sense that NCL would have to have a means of contacting you by phone or pager (as you said). But, "Pagers and handy phones do not work in port while the ship is docked"? This doesn't make sense? I agree that NCL could have expressed it more clearly. What it boils down to, though, is that when you leave a child in the care of the staff, there has to be an adult on board who can pick up the child if there is a problem. 1

This makes sense. And the pager or phone is for the parent (or authorized pick up person) to be contacted while still on the ship (and doing an adult activity like the spa, Vibe, casino, etc., as @All-ready2cruise said), to come pick up the child(ren) if there is a problem. I think I've gone full circle now and I'm back to my original post on this thread, about the uncle remaining on board while the parents went ashore in the port. I think I need an aspirin...

It dawned on me that you were referring to my use of the term "Ag". Ag is short for Aggie - the nickname of a student at Texas A&M University. The nickname of Texas A&M's sports teams is the Aggies.* *Aggie comes from Agricultural which is the "A" in A&M. Also, agricultural = farmers (hence my avatar screen name here on CC).
