Club Orange Cost and Benefits???

What is the benefit of Club Orange?  Aside from all the priority this and that (which never seems to be as great in reality as they claim) the elevated dining is the only real benefit.  From those on recent sailings, are they providing an elevated dining experience at all?  And what is the in room breakfast menu that is so much better?

Based on the Room Service cards I scanned from Dec 2019, Club Orange gets Room Service breakfast with FREE steak and eggs ($9.50), Mimosas, Bloody Marys, smoked salmon Benedict ($7.50), and smoothies that are not available on the regular Room Service Breakfast cards. I have not compared the current cards so there may be changes.

The free kitchen tour is more expansive than the Behind the Scenes tour and the Club Orange tote bag is much nicer than the regular HAL bag.

  • 2 weeks later...

We added club orange to are sailing of December 5 2021 to Hawaii on the Zuiderdam I'm still not clear on everything that's included with the program.  Since we're already in a assigned SS suite we couldn't get a upgrade  so they gave us $200 OBC.

On a Vista-class ship, you will not have a separate dining room but you will have a separate menu for dinner with an additional entree.  This entree is found on the Available Daily" page.  Club Orange has free Mimosas, Bloody Marys, and steak on the both the Breakfast Menu as well as the Room Service Breakfast cards.  The Club Orange tote is a huge advance over what other passengers receive.  Priority boarding is a nice thing to have.

Here are more of what you will enjoy:

  • Complimentary jewelry cleaning at the Merabella shop at your convenience. No appointment is needed.
  •  One-on-one spa and beauty consultation. Visit the Greenhouse Spa & Salon, located on deck 9 to book your appointment or call 94-
  • Priority appointment at Black Label Studio for an exclusive portrait session. (Photos are not free, just the taking of them)
  • Private Behind Scenes Tour.  An invitation will be sent to your stateroom with the day and time of the event.  This is memorable and a very small group.
  • Pre-opening invitation to Merabella, enjoyed with a glass of sparkling wine.

Booked on NA for Sept 11th, 2021 Alaska. Only our third cruise But decided we wanted to try CO on a shorter less expensive cruise. Also, because of Covid uncertainties, we thought it might allow for more expanded room service and more separate dinner dining if We chose to stay more apart from people.

We had our room booked a long time ago and did not want to change. We purchased CO about two weeks ago.

They charged us $25 pp per day. So $350. But because we did not want to change rooms, they gave us a $50 per person OBC. Assuming we spend that(DW has plans for that 😉), We are at $250 for the seven days.

Our boarding pass does say "Priority Check In", but that may not be as important this time with the structured embarkation set up but we will see.

We are going to evaluate it and see if we want to add it to our Feb 2nd, 18 day, San Diego to Hawaii RT on the Koningsdam. When I was speaking to the Ships CO people, I asked about the cost for that cruise. expecting it to be fairly high I was surprised when he quoted me a price in the $500 area( I wrote it down and now have misplaced it)... bad habit. I am thinking it was about $17-18 pp per day. Do not quote me on that.

CO is $15/p/p/day for cruises 14 days and over.

Is there priority tendering with CO or is it just for embarkation?

From HAL website:

"Move to the head of the line with priority check-in and disembarkation; priority access to specialty restaurant reservations and tenders ashore; and dedicated lines at Guest Services and the shore excursions desk."

I asked my TA to sign us up for CO and he responded that it wasn’t available to us because we have a price protected booking. ( we booked at a Casino Rate, then the cruise got chartered and we were moved to a different cruise).  If we wanted CO, we would have to rebook at the current rate.

I have used my TA for years and have done well by him, but when he also said all 3 of us would be charged and there would be no OBC even though we are in an SY and there are no SS available for an upgrade, I began to question what he told me!

Has anyone ever been told they can’t sign up for Club Orange?

I can’t speak from experience but if you are willing to pay the going rate what difference would it make?  It sounds odd to me.  If you click on this link there is a phone number to call.  Even if you booked with a ta I believe they will still talk to you and can tell you if that is true.  Good luck.

You could always verify what he related to you by calling the Club Orange number to ask. The person who answered dealt directly with us when we added CO to our booking even though we had a travel agent for the booking.

Two of us booked with casino free cabin offer.  We paid extra to move to a Neptune and they would not let us buy Club Orange (said we already got it).  Friend had free verandah and they were able to purchase CO and got a great upgrade to a VA cabin on deck 7.

If you are in a Neptune you have Club Orange benefits (except for the onboard event).

It is my understanding that there is  a limited number of Club Orange memberships available.

That is what my PCC told me, too.

Can't figure out why they restrict Neptune from the attending the CO onboard event.  Seems like a very minor thing to bother limiting.

Sure, but they get other perks. Maybe it is just a way to make CO unique.

It is not as if CO gets access to the Neptune Lounge or free laundry.

Well, I'm in a lowly free casino guaranteed interior cabin on Eurodam in November.  For now, at least.

Since my cabin hasn't been assigned, I have no way to know what upgrade might be available.  Is there any way I can opt/pay for CO?

Would my PCC be able to tell me or should I try calling?

Your PCC should be able to tell you.  That is how I book mine.

Personally I added CO for the upgraded room I was able to pick. Very happy with my PCC.

That's how I booked my cabin & my PCC was able to get me CO & a veranda, but yes I did pay more.
