Namvvet68 Posted December 29, 2020 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2020 I see that the Ruby, Emerald and Royal are all off Ensenada, Mexico drifting. Any ideas why they would be there?
Astro Flyer Posted December 29, 2020 #2 Share Posted December 29, 2020 (edited) Haven’t read any official word about why but think they were moved from Asia to the West Coast to be closer to prepare them for eventual deployment. There are other ships currently drifting off the Baja coast in addition to Royal, Ruby & Emerald: HAL Koningsdam, Carnival Miracle, Celebrity Millennium, Majestic Princess). The Royal & Majestic were recently in the Port of LA for a day likely to resupply/refuel & could also be for crew changes or additions. All we can do is to speculate about why until Princess shares information with the public. If you haven’t read this recent thread discussing this movement from Asia here’s a link: Edited December 29, 2020 by Astro Flyer

Papa Yoda Posted December 30, 2020 #5 Share Posted December 30, 2020 KTLA News 12/28: Cruise ships without passengers will be visiting the Port of Los Angeles in coming weeks in a step toward a future resumption of service by the industry, which has been shut down by the coronavirus pandemic. “The visits for fuel, supplies and services are part of the cruise lines’ operations to reestablish the ships in U.S. waters as a prerequisite to meet federal regulations in order to resume cruising in the future,” the port said in a statement Monday.

I believe they they will be allowed to come to port as necessary. Tom😀
