Also I'm in the same boat with gift cards with questionable future value.

C'mon BMAS....You really feel down in the center of your gut that Carnival is going to go bankrupt.  Worst cast scenario after vaccines increase and test cruises happen by end of summer is that there will be multiple ships from the fleet sailing by Christmas.

I don't think Carnival will go bankrupt but a reorganization will not surprise me.

We all come into this time in different ways and none of us knows what cruising will be like when it does resume.  I currently have three on the books, the last scheduled for April of 22.  After having three cancelled I have decided to get off the cancel-reschedule merry-go-round.

My mail box is filled with BOOK NOW notes, ...what's the point?

The point is that the cruise lines need to get some sort of money on the positive side of the ledger and future cruise deposits and future cruise planner purchases are the way to do this.

Carnival (CCL) shot themselves in the foot offering 300 and 600 in OBC since everyone of their competitors including cruise lines in the Carnival Corporation family decided to offer 125% in base cruise upgrade.  There is no loop hole offering the 125%, whereas there are multiple loop holes for those in the know to flip that 300 or 600 in OBC into cash to go into your pocket or a gift card to be used on a future sailing.

Then you might have lucked out.

What I mentioned are the current rules. How do I know? Because of my job, which I'm not allowed to specify on these boards.

False...I have had 3 cruises cancelled....all rebooked with no additional money put down.

First was last march--rescheduled to august 2020

August 2020 cancelled...rescheduled to this coming March

This March cancelled--just rescheduled to next March 2022

All with NO money put down...just transferred the credits (fully paid March 2020 to start). All rebooked with my PVP of 12 years with Carnival.

We also have a cruise coming up this August on the mardi gras.    Crossing my fingers we are a go

NEW rule is that the deposit on a paused sailing becomes FCC. If you have paid MORE than the deposit, then that money can go towards a fresh deposit on a rebooked cruise.

Then anyone can transfer over your FCC, cancelation obc and the rest of your money.

You said yourself you were fully paid, so that's probably why you didn't need a fresh deposit.

That's been explained to us by PVPs, a travel agent, the Casino dept plus the Diamond desk.

Perfect explanation.

So that wasn't my case, in fact I had only paid the $500 deposit and she transferred it to the new cruise as a refundable deposit on new booking.  She also transferred the $434 in FCC from the original Mardi Gras booking cancellation.  She also added the $600 OBC for this last cancellation.  Seems as if some are doing it differently.

  Hi,

I just am hoping, like everybody else who has cruises booked.
  🛳🛳

I have to tell you that I seriously doubt it will happen.  Your Glory cruise is out of NOLA.  It's been reported that Carnival  will start with Miami, Port Canaveral and Galveston as their first 3 ports to start back up.  That would put NOLA as 4th embarkation  port at best.

Test cruises need to be done,  followed by the 60 day mandate by the CDC and then the short cruises will commence before the new jewel, the Mardi Gras starts up.

I know my August Oasis cruise will not go and I am keeping fingers crossed for Halloween on the Mardi Gras.  With this being said, NOLA based sailings in August are slim to none, IMHO.
