Virgin is an adults-only cruise line that targets a demographic that likely is already vaccinated or at least eligible.  Big difference between that and the Big 3 who relies heavily (and increasingly) on younger passengers including kids.

Celebrity's just released their protocol for kids on the St. Maarten sailings and will  allow kids under 18 with a negative PCR test within 72 hours which is no big deal as every guest, even those vaccinated will have to have that to enter St. Maarten prior to boarding the cruise

These first cruises won't be going out full capacity. I would imagine distancing would be fairly easy in venues such as the restaurants, theater, hallways where it takes about

1 1/2 seconds to pass someone or any gathering place. The difficult areas for social distancing will, no doubt, be the elevators.

 

I refuse to wear a mask on board (which is why I won't be cruising until there are no mask mandates anywhere on the ship) but I will don a mask in elevators. That is just too close quarters for me to feel comfortable.

Social distancing eliminates the spontaneity that I enjoy on a cruise, so I will not spend my money on that experience. 

Those are all valid reasons for not wanting to social distance. Hopefully, ships sailing with only 50% capacity or even less won't be too much of a problem with these scenarios.

Maybe in the distant future, vaccinations will not be mandatory to cruise so there may still be hope for you.

This Thursday, husband and i will get our second shot and will be ready to go.  Hoping to cruise this late fall.  Time will tell.  At our age, we chose to get the vaccine, those that choose different, that is their decision, either way, lets hope cruising from the US starts soon.

Absolutely!  I just  booked for March 2022, we are all three already vaccinated, and looking forward to it.  I have complete faith in RC that they will do everything possible to make cruising safe for everyone again.

Someone posted the following on this cruise site or another cruise site (can't recall which) that they have become friendly with one of the crew members over the years. That crew member stated he/she is heading to one of the ships soon and will be vaccinated on the ship.

 

So..........that tells me that the cruise lines just may be able to procure enough vaccinations for their crew. The crew member also relayed, "No vax, no job".

 

Hope what was relayed from this crew member is true. I hope, I hope, I hope!

No mask?  what about one of those clear face shields?

I hate masks,  every time I go out where I have to wear a mask my beard itches like crazy.

Regarding the first bullet point:  So.....it does not say there is a limit on the amount of vaccinated people that can visit other vaccinated people. I take that to mean that a ship full of ONLY vaccinated passengers and crew can mingle without masks and social distancing.

 

Problem is, with un-vaccinated children on board, masks and social distancing will need to be adhered to. This is the main reason I much prefer NOT to have un-vaccinated children on a ship full of 100% vaccinated adults. I'm spoiled and do not want to wear a mask on vacation.

Now......that would certainly let out kids on those "bubble" cruise ships. With kids on board, then masking and social distancing would have to be mandated for specific scenarios, mainly INDOORS.

What this passage says to me is that "All people" could include vaccinated or un-vaccinated people that have gathered in a large group. This is why fully vaccinated people should continue to mask and distance from others. You never know, in a large group, how many people are vaccinated and how many people aren't vaccinated. Not sure there is any data that school age children carry a viral load enough to infect others.  
 

I think they should limit sailing to those under 70 until such time as I turn 70. I’d rather have unvaccinated kids than 70+.
