He has cornered himself into a corner with an extremely weak argument. He'll never get the temporary injunction because he doesn't have control over the requirements for international travel Tony from La Lido Loca bemoans the negative effects of politics, but this is a great example of how the politics of "owning the Libs" trumps everything for DeSantis. He could be cooperating with CDC's efforts to make sure ships sail safely, but that wouldn't help him politically, so he doesn't do it.

And what governmental agency has a Requirement (proof of vaccination) for matters protecting public health? I think that Governor Desantis can state that he interprets the ban to be against Vaccine Passports. The cruise industry and the Governor will work something out that allows the Cruise Lines to sail with 95% vaccinated passengers and 98% vaccinated crew if that's the route RCI and other cruise lines want to take. It would a really dumb move politically if he prohibited the Cruise Lines from Sailing after fighting for these companies to be able to sail. Witness his meeting in Port Canaveral with the heads of all the Cruise Companies as well as Port Heads. His state also filed a law suit against the CDC to open up cruising. For the Governor to oppose cruise ships sailing would be as I said a dumb move politically and he isn't going to make this type of a dumb move. SherriZ366 Posted May 5, 2021 #128 Share Posted May 5, 2021 It's like an assembly line for crew vaccinations -- 1-2 Royal Caribbean Group Ships sailing into port (Mostly Miami) per day. Today it was Independence of the Seas followed by Celebrity Edge. Oasis of the Seas on Friday. Freedom was in Miami on Tuesday and Mariner was in Port Everglades yesterday, sailing away today. It's fun to watch cruise ships on the webcams again especially when they are in the turning basin. ☺️

One positive might be that many of those being called back and vaccinated have served on Royal Caribbean before, maybe even on the same ships so any learning curve would be minor. It's a good start however and from what I'm hearing, RCI is asking crew members who are to join ships that are possibilities for sailing to try to get vaccinated shot at home. However, if they can't get the shot, RCI will get them vaccinated when they get to the port or port city.
