cantstopingcruising Posted May 2, 2021 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2021 I noticed a 14 day cruise on the Rhapsody out of Barbados. Has anyone been on this ship in recent years? How is it? Thanks
davekathy Posted May 2, 2021 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2021 We've cruised on the Rhapsody and liked the ship and crew. 2018 out of Tampa. B2B Western Caribbean cruise.
Merion_Mom Posted May 2, 2021 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2021 She is old, she is small, but the Barbados itineraries are port-intensive, so you won't be spending as much time on board. The cabins are small, particularly interior and oceanview. In comparison with newer ships, there are fewer balcony cabins, so these are often premium-priced, although they are not large. The smaller ships have a lovely intimate feel to them, but they are not for everyone.

We have one booked for March 2022.
cantstopingcruising Posted May 2, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted May 2, 2021 I was looking at a balcony cabin. If they are smaller than Celebrity cabins, I am not sure.
jonbgd Posted May 2, 2021 #6 Share Posted May 2, 2021 Liked the ship and would sail on her again but for us JS and above on this class of ship Cabins are small

suzk2275a Posted May 2, 2021 #8 Share Posted May 2, 2021 We were on Rhapsody in December, 2019. We had a wonderful time and met some really great people. One thing to be aware of is that the casino is small. There were a lot of gamblers on the ship (including us) so we had some waiting for a seat at a table or for a slot machine. We still had fun in the casino and won a little bit 🙂.

Had beds set up as Bunkbeds/4 singles and our youngest sleeping in Ex's bed. One the kids was assigned to Grandparents room but always in ours. We had no issues. Now when my kids were teens never would have done this, by then were always in Jr Suites on Vision Class ships... Once did a very small think 122sq ft on Sovereign with my FIL. He was 6ft 250#, now that was tight! Edited May 2, 2021 by ONECRUISER

Yes watch, be surprised how many times scored Corner/Afts. At times watched daily for a for yr or more and worked out for me on Radiance and Vision Classes. Use to get lucky around Final Payment. Wait List, Nope, even though was on Wait the Cabin opened to Public w/o any notification to me

StanleyandGus Posted May 2, 2021 #13 Share Posted May 2, 2021 We had an aft balcony (not a corner). For 2 people, it was fine, and the balcony was really nice. Maybe we’re undemanding, but we generally liked everything.

later Posted May 3, 2021 #15 Share Posted May 3, 2021 We were on the last rhapsody sailing and the ship was showing its age but OK. We had a corner aft JS which I agree is the best. we were suppose to be on a B2B but the second leg was canceled the last night of the first leg. As with most smaller ships the crew is much more friendly but it will be a new crew so who knows. As Carol said the itinerary is port intensive so unless you are not going to do things at the ports ship time will be greatly reduced.
