need info on Caribbean cruise

Been to Europe and many other places in the world but never to the Caribbean. Have a cruise booked for next January and my question is on the currency for the various islands. For our other cruises especially in Europe it was easy (the Euro) and just going to ATMs when needed. But the various  islands each have their own currency so what have others done in the past? Just use credit cards, or do some shops take US money? And hey isn't it fun to be planning again?😁

Every island that I have been to has  taken American dollars.

Back in 2012, we spent 21 days cruising around the Caribbean -- many different port stops -- and only used U.S. dollars.  No problems.

I have been all through the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America and US dollars have always been welcome.  Small denominations come in handy but for many activities a credit card is easier.

If you will be on a French Island, such as the French side of St. Martin, or Martinique, you may need Euro. 
But otherwise, it is as the others have said---US currency does fine.

I have spent US dollars with the street vendors in Martinique, otherwise I use credit card

thanks everyone. That is what I thought but just wanted to be sure. Now back to planning some more.
